The luxury of playing the piano to a cow

My background made me grow up to be an extremely stingy person. My hobby is saving money, so I don't need it. I occasionally squander the saved money, but I hardly buy luxury goods.

For example, I have been wearing my watch for more than ten years now. Back then, because I liked that the watch uses light kinetic energy, which is converted into electrical energy by absorbing light, without having to change the battery at all, so I chose a durable watch, and I still love it to this day. I remember buying it for about 3,000 yuan back then, which was the limit I was willing to pay. Of course I know the price of a watch varies by the world, but for me, a watch is just a tool to tell the time, and I can't understand why someone would buy tens or even hundreds of thousands of watches.

Okay, I know some watches retain their value or even increase in value, but it's really beyond my values. Because I will never buy brand-name watches, I have never seriously looked at watch brands, and I don’t know how much a style is worth, and I don’t pay attention to what watches others wear.

I hardly buy jewelry either, it's just a decoration for me. In the past, when I was in a relationship, my lover wanted to give me accessories. I also said that it would be good to give crystals instead of diamonds. Anyway, I didn’t wear anything after that. It made no difference whether it was crystals or diamonds. Sell them for cash? I'm not short of money, why should I sell the gift? Speaking of which, the jewelry I received when I got married has been sitting in a safe for years, completely untouched.

In addition to watches and jewelry, brand-name clothes and handbags are not my favorite, so although people often tell me how expensive a watch is, and every time B wears a diamond ring, he likes to fiddle with his hair when he takes the elevator. Changed to a new bag, and I just shrugged and laughed after hearing it. I have nothing to do with what other people wear. I have no interest in researching the value of those famous brands, nor do I plan to buy these luxury goods for myself.

There are always people who use brand-name products to make people around them react, be it envy, jealousy, or curiosity, so as to create a sense of superiority and add value to brand-name products. I am most afraid of meeting people like me who don’t know famous brands at all. It is absolutely a waste of time to play the piano to the cow.
