A teenager who wrestles with the wind and sea - let "Youth, be safe! "Become a classic in my heart!

(edited)
A young man was on the sand dunes by the sea, facing the fierce sea breeze. Even if his coat was blown up and dragged him backwards, he was still staggering. He still lowered his body and wrestled with the sea breeze. Also happy.

Imagine this scene, and you'd probably think he was just an innocent seventeen-year-old.

But you know what? Not long ago, he and his accomplices took the gang's van at gunpoint, full of guns, bullets, drugs...

This is "Young man, Ann! "In one of the inconspicuous clips of this movie, A Guo is wrestling with Haifeng, and his accomplice is Adouzai, who is 16 years old. And this scene is the one that touched my heart the most in this movie.

In 1992, "Youth, ah, ah!" "The year it was released, I was ten years old, and I couldn't possibly be interested in underworld movies, and certainly didn't know it existed. More than 20 years later, with the rise of YouTube, I watched the pirated version of "Youth, Ann!" ”, although the picture quality is extremely poor, coupled with the intermittent viewing, there is no special feeling after watching it once; however, every now and then, there is an unknown driving force that drives me to click in and watch it again.

This year, "Youth sigh, Ann! 》 Released the 4K restoration version. After watching the pirated version so many times, I knew that I owed it too much, so this time I walked into the theater, bought a ticket, and enjoyed this classic gangster movie in Taiwanese film history in a proper and comfortable way.

After watching it from the beginning to the end, and after a few days of precipitation, I finally understand a little why this film has always held a place in my heart.

In the cries of Ah Guo and Ah Douzai trapped at the bottom of the society, I clearly heard the contradictions and confusions they inadvertently revealed during their growth, which made me feel familiar...

Adouzai's father, a foreigner from Fuzhou, was defrauded by the underworld to buy land and owe huge sums of money. Cowardly and afraid of things, and unable to understand the language, when the creditor came to collect the debt, he always hid and asked his son to deal with it. So the underage Adouzai has become the mainstay of the family and has to fight fiercely to protect his family.

A 16-year-old immature child was forced to carry a disabled family. The reality robbed him of the carefree smile he should have enjoyed, and he moved to the sinister society ahead of time. On the way he and Ah Guo were running from north to south, it was always him who made up his mind, made contact, and coordinated. Adouzai's mother who lives in the United States wants to bring him and his sister to live in the United States. As for what he thinks? An American flag hanging on the wall of his room shows Adouzai's wishes. But Adouzai couldn't let go of his father, and he couldn't leave the familiar circle of life, so he couldn't make up his mind to leave Taiwan. With this delay, I accidentally died on the street...

If Adouzai was forced to grow up , then Aguo, who shares his brotherhood with him, is just the opposite - he always avoids growing up .

Ah Guo's parents were killed in a car accident, and he was aimless without anyone to guide him. However, he has a hot personality and can't hold back his temper and clashes with people, which has broken things several times. His ruthlessness is even better than that of Adouzai; but because he has only ruthlessness and no brains, he had to leave it to Adouzai to plan big and small matters. The two also hit it off because of their complementary personalities.

That time, they robbed the truck of the boss of Beigang Jiaotou and drove to the seaside to hide. Adouzai hurriedly checked the stolen loot and found a shotgun, a whole box of bullets, and a bag of drugs.

Interestingly, Ah Guo didn't go to inspect the loot for the first time, but climbed to the side of the dune to play wrestling with the sea breeze, enjoying himself.

In this scene, I saw a helpless boy who didn't want to face reality, escaped the pain of growing up, and who looked fierce but couldn't hide his innocence.

However, this was the last time Ah Guo had fun. Not long after, with a shotgun in his arms, he rode north with Adouzai on a passenger train. He was completely caught up in a gang fight, and his body was found on the banks of the Danshui River.

Ah Guo's arrogance and domineering and unwillingness to die form an extremely strong contrast with his innocent appearance at the seaside - I think, I may be "Young man, peace!" "The core reason for leaving an indelible impression in my mind.

At the end of the movie, A Douzai narrates the diary that A Guo wrote in the juvenile detention center:

...I think of the day my parents died in a car accident, I was at the police station and was rescued by my brother-in-law. The rain kept falling, like my sorrow...
I felt that the eldest sister was about to give up on me
. He discussed with her brother-in-law and wanted to send me to the third sister's house in Puli, but I didn't want to go. This is where I remember, there are many friends who grew up with me. Adouzai wants him to go to the United States, his good friend is leaving, leaving me alone...

Ah Guo, isn't he just a lonely, restless child who wants someone to accompany him?

Maybe it's not just me, everyone has a lonely soul, eager to be loved and playful, but they have to arm themselves and hide their true colors in the whirlpool of reality. So even if we don't belong to gangs, we may not necessarily be able to empathize with their way of making a living, but deep down in our hearts, we can empathize with their state of mind--and therefore, "Young man, peace! "become a classic!
