Some thoughts sparked by comments on the Ma Jinyu incident

In the Ma Jinyu incident, some people's criticism of her was so bizarre and unreasonable that sometimes they felt that there was no need to discuss it, but there were still some.

Not to mention how many real difficulties women face in leaving the domestic violence environment in the patriarchal culture and patriarchal system, including legal and economic.

There are some studies in the field of psychology that show that people with abusive tendencies in intimate relationships are more likely to attract more optimistic people with strong empathy, who are willing to help, save, and forgive others, not because there is something special about abusive people attractiveness, precisely because people with these better, kinder qualities are more likely to tolerate and forgive hurtful behavior because of those qualities.

Of course, it is not to say that it is good or advisable to have a blind "Savior" or "The Virgin" tendency, but even if the "Virgin" hurts, it will mainly hurt itself (the situation with children is a little more complicated), and bystanders can deplore it. But there is no reason to condemn and ridicule.

Looking at some of Ma Jinyu's interviews, you will find that maybe she has been trapped in oppressive views such as "you can't divorce when you are married" before, but even so, it is the oppressive culture that caused her such views to be condemned. Amia Srinivasan has a point in an article called radial externalism, roughly saying that when a person is influenced by an ideology that is very common and difficult to resist in one's environment and holds a certain wrong view/belief, this wrong view starts from The epistemological point of view cannot be justified, but in this case the person who holds the wrong view should not be morally responsible for it, nor should he be morally condemned for holding such a wrong belief. I think it makes sense.

This psychological tendency to laugh at the weak may be partly explained by the "just world fallacy", and it also feels related to a certain social Darwinism view of "might is right" that is popular in Chinese culture today.
