Your page has been detected for activity that goes against Page Policies...Taiwanese celebrity fan pages have been stolen! What the hell is going on?

Attention administrators and editors! The recurring "Facebook phishing" scam cases have begun to spread again! A large number of fake Facebook fansites "Page Reconfirm" appear and tag celebrity fanbooks. If you accidentally click on the phishing link and enter your account password, the entire fanbook content will be deleted or even disappear. The results of years of painstaking efforts and the number of fans are all lost. put into running water. There are waves of Facebook phishing scams that are constantly changing. How do you, as fan administrators and editors, identify and prevent Facebook phishing scams?

Since the Instagram fan pages of many celebrities such as Cai Aga and Adi were inexplicably suspended in 2017, which triggered social discussions, incidents of the theft of fan groups have been heard from time to time.

Last May, a new wave of Facebook fans was attacked by a fraudulent group. A large number of celebrities include millions of YouTuber Xiaoyu , if you are not crazy, you will die , Mr. 486 , artist Wu Nianzhen , Xiaozhen , Tang Ling , Oufubao Chairman Lin Yihong , former Taipei City Councilor Tong Zhongyan and others are all victims (links can be clicked to enter relevant news reports or explanations).

Recently, it was discovered that such celebrity fan album scams have made a comeback, and they have targeted a large number of domestic and foreign celebrity fan albums, including Tweet Tweet Shoes , SevenFat in July and a half , and Fang Jijun’s quick report-I laugh, so I am

The editor has browsed these cases and actually operated it several times. The following is how the "Facebook fishing" is carried out?

The first step of Facebook phishing scam, fake official mark you

Fraud groups mark public fan pages with fake accounts masquerading as official Facebook accounts.

If you do not confirmation, our system will automatically block your pages and you will not be able to use it again.

And at the end of the post, I marked a bunch of celebrity and fan pages

Or you might see a post like this, with only the tag "one" fan page:

Warning ⚠️
Your account will be deactivated ⚠️
Last week, many Facebook users reported your page for violating our terms and policies. If you are the original owner of this account, please confirm your account to avoid blocking.
Please confirm your account here:
If you don't confirm, your main Facebook account will be automatically/permanently blocked and you won't be able to use it again. Thank you for helping us improve collaboration on Facebook services.

If you look closely, you may find that these accounts have the following characteristics:

1. Fans use the fake as the real

In order to avoid being officially searched by Facebook, the names of these accounts will be replaced by non-English letters, which look alike, and it is easy to ignore them if you swipe over them at will. For example: r of Privacy is not English, i is missing the dot above; a of Fəcebook is inverted e, etc.

Or the name does not contain "Facebook", but the head post uses Facebook's icon, such as "Page Reconfirm", and we even found many of its fraudulent avatars on Facebook.

2. Tag many other fans

Almost all fraudulent accounts tag many people at once, sometimes in the same post, sometimes in many posts from the same account, and a little swipe shows that other victims are also being targeted .

3. Usually attach a link

Such scam posts usually include a link (pictured above)

The editor recently sorted out the cases and found that there are many URLs that use Telegram. It is speculated that the function of Telegram can be used to create encrypted web pages for the next step of phishing scams.

4. Sentences are incoherent

Some Chinese version posts are not automatically translated by Facebook, but they are not smooth to read at all, such as "There are differences between your content", "Best wishes", etc.

The second step of Facebook phishing scam, Telegram fake notification page (fraud groups sometimes skip this step)

If you believe the post from this unfamiliar account and click on the link above, you will be taken to a fake "Notify!" notification page.

This full of English messages, the effect is actually the same as the post just now, that is to declare that your fan page has been reported to violate certain regulations and is suspected of fraud (you are only fraudulent) , in order to prevent fraud incidents, please verify you. personal Facebook account, etc., and usually includes a hyperlink "CONFIRM HERE!". Finally, don’t forget to threaten that if you don’t follow suit, your fan page will be blocked or suspended.

(Editor's thoughts: "Please click to verify your account" is a fraudulent keyword)

(Editor’s thoughts: Signing is too casual, right?)

If the administrators click on this link in a hurry, they will go to this page:

This page shows that your fan page "violates" some user agreement (actually it's just a cover), asking you to press Continue and enter your account password for verification. Note that this "Continue" is a phishing link!

The third step of Facebook phishing, defrauding login information

Regardless of whether you have experienced the Telegram fake notification page or not, the ultimate purpose of such a celebrity Facebook scam is to defraud your Facebook login information, so it will inevitably lead you to a fake login page. If you enter the account password here, it is equivalent to direct In the hands of fraudulent groups, please do not enter any login information!

Not only celebrities, but also the general public's Facebook and IG suffer? Does antivirus software work?

  1. First of all, you need to remember a principle: Facebook officials " will not " contact users through posts , let alone instruct users to perform any authentication actions.
  2. Fraud groups may use fake or very long URLs to confuse people, but as long as you pay attention to the "last" of the URL and compare it with the real Facebook official website URL, you can know whether it is fraudulent.
  3. It is unlikely that Facebook and Instagram will use another rival platform, such as Telegram, to inform their own customers.
  4. Antivirus software is absolutely necessary. Therefore, it is recommended that the fan group editors or users who are often on Facebook or IG should install antivirus software on their commonly used devices. But here comes the problem. Most of the antivirus software or Defender built into Windows is aimed at antivirus rather than fraud prevention. In addition, the phishing scams vary from place to place, so it is very difficult to detect.
Therefore, when choosing antivirus software, you can choose software such as " Trend Micro PC-cillin " that is designed for common scams in Taiwan as a tool for self-protection.
  5. Lightweight Facebook and IG users can also filter suspicious message content through " fraud prevention experts "
