I think there are thousands of fans of "The Traces of Tea from Different People". I am very honored today to share with my beloved author and tell me how I feel after reading this work.

There should be many creators here. No matter what the form of the work is, whether it is a tea shop or a local cultural and historical guide, everyone should agree that after the creation is completed, the work itself has an independent life. Is it in the way the author wants? For readers? How do readers feel? Maybe it's another thing. I'd love to share my mood with the author, not sure if mine is the same as hers, but as a fan of books, it's exciting.

➤ Todd in textbooks and comics

There were already 3 copies of the book "Insane Tea Traces" when I got to know it. These 3 books were kept in my bookcase. At first, my children took them to read, but I didn't read them at all, and they kept them like this for more than 2 years. Later, because the child said, "I also have Todd in my textbook. Todd is ugly in the textbook. Why is this book so handsome?" This sentence aroused my interest in this set of books.

When I went to the (2021) epidemic, I was fine at home and finally had some free time. I started flipping through this set of books, and as soon as I flipped through it, it was incredible, and I felt the same way. why? Because from this set of "The Traces of Tea from Other People", I learned that the original tea in northern Taiwan came from the two fathers of Taiwanese tea, John. Tao De and Li Chunsheng started to walk out.

The Taiwanese tea in the book turned out to be the predecessor of Wenshan Baozhong tea produced in the areas of New Taipei City, Pinglin and Shiding, our family’s favorite drink. When I read the 23rd page of Episode 2, I realized that there is a tea-producing area called "Fist Mountain" in Taiwan, which refers to Xindian, Shenkeng, Shiding, Pinglin, and Pingxi in New Taipei City today. place. It turns out that the tea I have been drinking for so long was improved by the hands of these two people, and it went all the way down. It was only then that I understood: the tea area that I was looking at originally had this process: Taiwan did not have oolong tea in the first place.

After I started reading it, it piqued my interest because I wanted to do a constituency survey to get closer to voters, so I continued to read it. After reading it, I think this is not only a comic, but also a "new creation Bible" suitable for young people to read.

When many people talk about this comic, they will mention that we finally have a comic that expresses Taiwan history in an easy-to-read manner, which can be introduced to more children. I totally agree that this work does have the effect of knowing historical facts. However, at the same time, I must say that young people in their 20s and 30s are also very suitable for reading.

When we want to start a new business, the setbacks, difficulties, and tug-of-war between ideals and dreams can all be shown in the debate between Li Chunsheng and Tao De.

Todd is responsible for dreaming, which fully represents having ideals and rushing forward, but completely disregarding the economic pressure behind, burning enthusiasm and showing courage. Li Chunsheng, on the other hand, is rational and realistic, and has always brought Todra back. In the end, how do you draw the line of balance between dreams and reason?

I saw tears in my eyes because I felt the same way: We want to do this, and we want to let more people know about our ideas. Isn't this what Todd said now? When readers saw that Tao De was frustrated all the way, and quarreled with Li Chunsheng all the time, in the end, Li Chunsheng said later: "Yes, what you said is right", and then the next page will have a large landscape picture, a full-page empty scene, and then Add a dialog:

Let the wind of fresh water charge freely and blow to the whole of Taiwan and the world!

It is this feeling, "I just want to put the Taiwanese dream on the world stage." At this height, I feel that I have been encouraged. Although on the next page, the setbacks continue, but do you understand? In fact, my industry, the work I am doing, I also regard it as a new creation, I am creating a brand, and I am a service industry. There are many difficulties in this process. How to communicate and sell yourself? I think it's very much the same as Todd selling tea, really. I don't know why Zhang Jiya is so encouraging to readers? Are you really that optimistic and upbeat? (Zhang Jiya shakes his head sharply)

➤ Mood of wanting to be recognized: second generation, box painter

In the second episode of Chen Toujia, he and his son faced the dilemma of whether to plant new tea. Create a method to carry forward the industry left by the parents. The story of this episode, I think, is also the struggle of every second generation.

It's not just new creations, but also the feeling of wanting to be "recognized" behind it. It turns out that Todd knows more than me whether it is a person or a business. Having said this, I also realized that, yes, that feeling of wanting to be recognized, the dream of "hoping to be seen by more people", I have seen many such characters in the book.

Episode 3, episode 3, introduces a young box painter who doesn't think his work has any importance, and repeatedly draws outside the tea box all day. Unexpectedly, someone in the distant United States framed his paintings one by one and placed them all over the wall. Although I am not the young painter, I remember how Todd encouraged such a young man to just say, "Your things are actually seen", "Your things are actually treasured", "You are doing a something meaningful” can inspire them and make the artist pick up the lost painting tools. For me, this is very enlightening.

In the last episode of episode 4, it describes the homemade oolong tea in Taiwan, but Taiwanese are not familiar with it. The two protagonists hope to gather local confidence through various methods, so they chose the Mid-Autumn Festival with local people, combined with the temple in Dadaocheng Mouth and temple fairs, tea drinking and kicking. The identification that radiates outward from a cup of tea is actually something we often do.

➤Take a trip to Taiwan's tea picking road

In addition to a lot of local history in Taiwan, such as Quan-Zhang Fighting, Dadaocheng and Mengka, in this set of books, I have seen new creations, recognitions, and even seen that, because of such a cup of tea, in the end, it can drive the whole story. The development of Dadaocheng has enabled all people to have jobs, and even girls have come out, gender has been reversed, and so on. These are also things I want to do. I was inspired and affirmed as I read every page of this manga. Therefore, I would like to thank the author Zhang Jiya.

During the process of publishing this comic, I have also discussed many times with Li Yalun, the editor-in-chief of Gaia Comics, and I was deeply moved. Then, will my children, or more young people, have the opportunity to see this comic? What about comics?

Maybe we can take a trip, not only to Dadaocheng, but to cooperate with "registered tea" to see the process of tea making. Take the children to the place where the tea is picked in the mountains, and actually pick a batch of tea, and then follow the boat down the Tamsui River to Mengjia, Dadaocheng, and the mouth of the sea, and then drink a cup of tea at that place. I think their understanding of Taiwan will be more, deeper and stronger. How good would it be if I could do something like this?
