My first Web3 site
You may not notice. This site (chu.vc) is actually a Web3-enabled site.
What makes a site Web3 as opposed to Web2?
In the Web2 world, the tweet you write in Twitter, the photos you post of Facebook, or the video you upload to YouTube, they are not really owned by you. The large Internet companies behind control your content and they created tons of meta-data based on what you created and what you browsed and they earn money off of those data. But all you get in return are some “thumbs-up”.
Web3 is aiming to mitigate the centralized data ownership issue. That’s why the term DePub which stands for decentralized publishing.
The posts on this site are being published to the LikeCoin Chain where meta-data are stored with an ISCN (International Standard Content Number). Much like the ISBN for each book ever published.
If you click on the “clapping hands icon” at the end of this post, you are required to connect your Keplr Wallet. When you click the “clapping hands icon”, the writer will be rewarded with LikeCoin, a cryptocurrency native to the LikeCoin Chain. One can also participate in the governance of the LikeCoin project by voting if you own the governance token LikeCoin.
Content stored on the blockchain is permanent and immutable to sensorship.
The LikeCoin project started way before Elon Musk trying to buy Twitter and turn it into a decentralized platform.
If you are publishing using WordPress, you can simply download the LikeCoin Plugin and turn your site to be Web3-ready immediately. No coding needed.
Are you ready for Web3?
