Weather of Nainital in summer is decent you can carry any summer fancy comfortable clothes but I winters Nainital is really cold you you have to pack good amount of wollen clothes . always chose to travell by road so you don’t miss any view. And for small group I always recommend booking 12 seater tempo travellers spacious enough to heavy luggage and small groups.
