[Governance Proposal] Migrate LikeCoin to Ethereum OP Mainnet
I. Abstract
One of the main reasons LikeCoin built its own blockchain in 2019 was as an alternative solution to rapidly rising Ethereum gas fees that couldn’t be resolved in the short term. However, after several major Ethereum upgrades, particularly the Dencun upgrade that significantly reduced L2 transaction costs, the primary rationale for independently operating the LikeCoin chain no longer exists. Therefore, I propose migrating LikeCoin to the Ethereum OP Mainnet to align with this new landscape and enhance LikeCoin’s future development.
II. Reasons for Choosing Ethereum OP Mainnet
Ecosystem Integration: Ethereum is the largest blockchain development ecosystem, offering a rich array of applications, tools, and a vast community of developers and users. Additionally, Ethereum provides more external funding opportunities (e.g., RetroPGF, Gitcoin, Giveth), which can help LikeCoin integrate with other ecosystems and accelerate its growth.
Improved User Experience: Ethereum's abstract account wallets are becoming increasingly popular, which can greatly improve the user experience of Liker Land and future LikeCoin applications, lowering the entry barrier for new users.
Enhanced Operational Efficiency: Migrating LikeCoin to Ethereum L2 can significantly reduce the costs associated with infrastructure maintenance and technical development, allowing resources to be concentrated on decentralized publishing and community building.
III. Call to Action
Recently, in my article "終結平台綁架!如何用 NFT 升級電子書", I mentioned that one reason I paused NFT issuance was the lack of infrastructure. When merchants, assets, and users migrate to Ethereum, we'll have a better chance to unlock the concrete use of article NFTs — ending platform lock-in — and drive the decentralized upgrade of e-books.
Migrating to Ethereum OP Mainnet is a pivotal step for LikeCoin, opening up broader opportunities and bringing it closer to becoming the global creator economy's infrastructure.
