On November 11, the CEO of Walt Disney Bob Chapek said that his group is preparing to introduce technology into the virtual world, and Disney is preparing to enter the meta-universe. Chapek said in Disney’s fourth-quarter earnings report, “Our efforts so far are just a prelude. We hope to connect the real world and the digital world more closely, and allow fairy tales to be told freely in our own Disney Metaverse.”

Although the meta universe has not yet been created, the Disney CEO has described the virtual reality world as "unlimited integration of the physical world and the digital world." The switch to virtual reality is because Disney now has virtual reality games and experiences that can interact with characters virtually.

Everyone is pouring into the meta universe. Or it seems so. Meta (formerly Facebook) was the first to change its name to Meta Universe. Microsoft said it is also taking action. HP is planning to bring the printing industry to Metaverse. Now, Disney Metaverse has also announced a plan to "surpass Disney+ and find the potential meta-universe". Bob Chapek told reporters on a corporate earnings conference call last week that the company plans to build its meta-universe by connecting the physical and digital worlds more closely.

Tilak Mandadi, CEO and Executive Vice President of Digital and Global Disney Parks, Experiences and Products (DPEP), provided more information on this strategy. He said: “Everything starts in a networked park. Visitors can use networked devices, such as wearable devices, phones and other interactive digital access points, to interact with the surrounding physical environment. When the park is coupled with computer vision and natural language understanding With technologies such as, augmented reality, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, the physical environment can be seamlessly combined with the digital world to create special new experiences. In the next few years, our visitors will experience the'meta universe' inside and outside the park ――Starting from "Star Wars: Galaxy Interstellar Cruiser", and then there will be new projects that will be unveiled."

AR augmented reality technology will be a key element of its strategy. Mandadi pointed out: "In our park, the key is to use augmented reality and mixed reality technology to enhance the sense of fun for visitors. The combination of the physical world and the digital world is still our main focus, but we can also Look far and use the same technology to extend the magic of Disneyland to the home."

As many of you know, Metaverse basically integrates augmented reality, virtual reality and the real world, giving people a kaleidoscope-like surrealistic experience. But please don't get me wrong, it is in a digital space represented by numbers representing people, places and things. Therefore, people may need to wear virtual reality headsets to experience the virtual world through their nearly tangible virtual avatars. In the future, Meta Universe is expected to have its own digital products, experiences and currency.

For Disney, the meta-universe may involve visiting the virtual reality version of Disneyland, which is very typical. A virtual Disneyland, where you can experience different games, movies and presentations through your digital avatar.

In a sense, the universe is very suitable for Disney Metaverse. Who doesn't want to walk into a 3D or avatar-driven Disney movie and talk to characters? As Chapek said, "Disney may become the happiest place in the metaverse." The entertainment industry will definitely benefit from the immersive experience promised by the metaverse. Entities like Disney are expected to get more revenue.
