“This costume took me about six months to complete,” Klein shared, highlighting the intricate hand embroidery and sewing involved in his work.

Turning Passion into Profit

Magalong has successfully turned his hobby into a business, designing film costumes, including armor for Sienna Shaw in “Terrifier 2.” “I fabricated the armor for the movie,” he explained.

Spotlight on Pinoy Comics

Kwento Comics, the first all-Asian, all-women comic book company, showcased Asian and Filipino mythology. “It’s special for artists to work on stories that reflect their identities,” said Waverly Lim.

Economic Impact on New York City

With over 200,000 attendees, the convention generated an estimated economic impact of $80 million for New York City, underscoring the thriving nerd culture.
