Protocols.io 是一間以發展，儲存及公佈科研方法為主的平台。每一個人都可以閱讀平台上的protocol，注冊，在 CC-BY license下公佈屬於他的科研方法，並擁有獨一無二的Digital Object Identifer ，以推進open science。

2022年 Protocol 寫了一篇文講解 Open research 的好處和壞處，以表明自己怎樣在商業世界與公開化的科研之間取得平衡。

The truth is that the desire to maximize revenue can conflict with the momentum of the community towards open research both in for-profit and nonprofit organizations, and both need sustainable business models to succeed.
