Day 1 island

·
No man is an island. But a woman can be.

I was born in a town that is deeply rooted in the land, but I often dreamed about the sea and some islands in my childhood.

I remembered that the unknown islands in my dream were silent. Actually, dreams about seas and islands were often silent, too. Silence was the most lonely thing I could imagine when I was young because it meant no one talked to me.

When I grew up and became a mom, I realized silence was still the most lonely thing I could imagine because it meant no one talked to or listened to me.

Being a woman or a mom seems more complicated than everything I've learned in my past life.

John Donne wrote, "No man is an island." Our destinies are connected. It's true.

However, when I try to redefine myself in the chaos, the ideal self just stands in the sea of life, far away, untouchable. That's the island of myself. No one can see it but me.

Maybe it used to be in my dream many years ago, silently, lonely.

It was there when I was chosen to face the fate of a woman.

No man is an island. But a woman can be.
