Domaine Armand Rousseau Pere et Fils Chambertin Grand Cru 2000
Medium intensity in nose, still dominated by fruitiness, like raspberry and cranberry. A bit old cask and light milky nose indicate the maturation in oak. 16 yrs aging returns elegant developed aromas of light chocolate, leather, coffee, brown sugar, and a bit of dried flower bouquet. After 1 hour aeration, can find some mint note (but no green notes), and also incense and agarwood.
High acidity, medium tannin with velvet texture, medium intensity on palate, medium alcohol, medium body, long length. Has more dried prune note and wet soil note on palate than in nose. Taste more cappuccino with caramel, compare to smelling.
Some burgundy red wines show distinct humid forest images, but this Armand Rousseau just like the border of forest, can find the humid atmosphere and also the sunlight warmth. Wines from Gevrey Chambertin village usually give an image of firm structure, especially Chambertin Grand Cru and Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru, but this wine shows more elegance. A wine with excellent and delicate wine making techniques. Sometimes I ponder whether too much human involving and polishing are good to wine or not.
