As a Non-Native English Speaker

One of my friends, who is Latino American, told me that she feels it is unfair for non-native English speakers to have to learn English. I responded by discussing the necessity and benefits of having English language skills. Later, she mentioned that Americans are not very good at learning a second language. At that moment, it struck me that we are not born with the ability to learn a second language easily either. I suddenly realized that we non-native English speakers invest a lot in learning English, and it is the global environment that drives us to do so.
