輕談淺唱不夜天 - My English Playlist : (3) Bridge Over Troubled Water

我提過十分喜歡 Simon & Garfunkel 這個組合。所以，不能不提他們的成名作。

關於這首歌，Paul Simon 作曲的靈感來自他在教會聽過的一首聖詩，當中有一句歌詞：Bridge over Troubled Water。Troubled Water 象徵人生的苦難，而 Bridge 就是信仰帶來的堅定。Simon & Garfunkel 都住在紐約市，Paul 從他家裡能看到東河，他隱約看到一道橋橫跨東河，便寫成歌詞的第一句："When you're weary, feeling small. When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all"。完成初稿後，他相信自己寫了一首佳作，所以立即找經理人及監製談，他們都同意，而且要求他多寫一段，因而有了第三段：

Sail on silver girl. Sail on by. Your time has come to shine. All your dreams are on their way.

See how they shine. Oh, if you need a friend. I'm sailing right behind.

當然，這首歌的成功還有賴 Art Garfunkel 的演繹。
