Today, we use IoT technology to develop different weather instruments and weather stations that help us accumulate accurate weather data.

In the past, people relied on their senses when observing the weather, either to understand the direction of the wind by the movement of leaves or to estimate the timing of rain by the number of clouds in the sky. But times have changed.

Today, we use IoT technology to develop different weather instruments and weather stations that help us accumulate accurate weather data. Amongst other things, a weather sensor is one that can convert the information it senses into an electrical signal or other desired form of information that is output to a fixed place according to a certain pattern. So what are the types of weather sensors?

1. Weather temperature and humidity sensors

The weather temperature and humidity sensor is one of the more commonly used sensors in weather stations today. It has a wide range of applications, is highly accurate in high humidity environments, has good long-term stability and is not easily affected by environmental factors such as dust and chemical gases when in use. When used outdoors, the sensor needs to be equipped with a radiation shield to prevent solar radiation or rain from affecting the measurement results.

2. Atmospheric pressure sensors

Atmospheric pressure is also one of the indispensable monitoring data, representing a forecast of future weather. The atmospheric pressure sensor equipment, on the other hand, enables real-time monitoring of air pressure.

The digital pressure sensor acts directly on the diaphragm of the sensor through pressure, causing the diaphragm to produce a micro-displacement proportional to the pressure of the medium, making the resistance of the pressure sensor change and detecting the change through electronic circuitry, then converting the output into a digital standard signal corresponding to this pressure, which is then transmitted to the central monitoring and analysis system in real time through the GPRS/CDMA network.

3. Automatic rain sensors

Meteorological rain sensors are instruments used by meteorologists to measure the amount of rainfall over a period of time. The sensor for measuring rainfall must be placed in an open area free from obstacles.

These are just a few of the common types of weather sensors, which are indispensable components of weather monitoring stations and are now widely used because of their compact size and ease of security.
