PinoyLiga Next Man Cup Returns
Opportunity for Emerging Players
The Next Man Cup focuses on giving less-utilized players from Team B a chance to prove they can compete for spots on their school’s main squads.
History and Growth of the Next Man Cup
Introduced in 2022, the Next Man Cup was developed to complement the Collegiate Cup, which launched a year earlier. According to tournament director Benny Benitez, this third season continues to refresh the opportunity for aspiring players to shine.
Participating Teams and Inclusivity
Around 10 to 14 teams, including defending champions College of St. Benilde, are expected to participate. Though NCAA and UAAP teams remain the main contenders, PinoyLiga also includes teams from leagues like NAASCU, NCRAA, and CESAFI.
Ongoing Tournaments
In addition to the Next Man Cup, PinoyLiga is also running the Alumni Cup and Juniors’ Cup. The Alumni Cup, in its fifth season, sees UE Red Warriors aiming for a third straight title in the 40-above division, while Mapua Cardinals defend their 30-above title.
