Words
Words are exciting news
They are finely-devised fictions
that lured me into believing in a kind of glory
Words, repeated by a cheap yet loud speaker
taught by teachers, recited by pupils,
tell me that so long as I obey-
I am part of the glory too
I will have a home, a family,
a history and a culture
Words are fed into my mouth-
manipulated to look just
Words of the mighty power-
overrule yours and mine
Words are rhetoric, lies,
propaganda,
doctrine of the cult
But also words-
are truth
They are-
narratives of the poor,
songs of the underprivileged,
testimony against the crimes
Words are uttered by the desperate-
to call for help,
shouted by the angry-
to question power
To pass her daughter a few words of wisdom
Mom left her simply-worded-
last words-
I feel sadness beyond words
The blatant statement of the woman-
was never wordy
her words of disobedience was erased,
then rose again in German, Thai, Morse and Emoji words
Some words will make an eulogy-
soon enough to be forgotten
But others will remain
Only an idiotic narcissist-
believes he can truly monopolize words
He murders words like-
a windshield wiper repeatedly wipes off raindrops
But he fails to know that rain-
comes from the ocean,
the rivers, the streams,
the cracks of a desert,
the breaths and tears of the people
