Many in childhood, adolescence, and in adulthood dreamed of the ability to play a wonderful musical instrument: violin, drums, piano, trumpet or guitar. Certainly the latter instrument was very popular, everybody loved it and wished it without exception, because the guitar can calm down, "listen", understand, relax, or, on the contrary - give strength, power, give a huge burst of faith in yourself and your loved ones. Sometimes it is used to play wedding songs, not less often - mournful, sad, farewell. In general, this musical instrument can be called completely versatile! Many people like the gentle, not too sharp and ringing sound of classical, someone prefers the "juicy" echoes of acoustic, electric guitar with its force conquers fans of melody and wacky sound.
Going to buy a cheap bass guitar, many people focus their choice on the design and shape of the "body", the brand, price category and more. Of course, we can not say that the design or price is not important, but even the opposite, it plays a key role, but musicians who prefer guitars understand that, nevertheless, you need to pay attention to the "bread crumbs" to make copyright free music, i.e. the small parts of the instrument. One of the many little things is the top threshold of an electronic guitar, which has an impact on many things. It is "responsible" for how easily your guitar can be tuned. And, of course, it must be said that it's where the sound "starts" - where the resonation of the strings begins. Improperly installed the threshold can "present" to the owner of the guitar a very unpleasant surprise, such as rattling, reduced comfort when playing and some other consequences.
What materials are used to make the top plate?
There are a total of five or six materials that upper horns are made of today:
- Bone. This option is very old, it has been used for a very long time. Devices with this kind of threshold can be called oldschool and mega-cool. They are very durable and strong, and due to their unusual structure, they require special careful treatment and care. It is necessary to be extremely careful when "sawing" the holes, but such care is justified, because the echoes will be smooth, juicy and interesting. The disadvantages can be called only the difficulty of preparing for the installation - should protect your eyes, nose, mouth, and skin in general, from the bone dust and unpleasant smell during mech.voznikah.
- Graphite can be described as inexpensive and easy to work with, it will give that "lamp", quiet, gentle and soft sound.
- The nickel threshold is not as easy to put on as the bone and graphite ones, but it is very aesthetically pleasing and unusual, so shiny and bright. The notes you take will sound vibrato for a long time, impressing you and your friends with its singularity. It is hard to work with, as it warms up quickly when sanded and "sawn" and can even burn you a little.
- Brass ones are very harmonious with instruments that have "gold" elements. The metal is hard, which is why it gives good sustain and an even, pure sound. It is difficult and even sometimes dangerous to work with, as it does not conduct heat well, and the alloy dust can contain lead. It can be poisoning. Be sure to use a respirator and goggles when working with this metal.
- Tusk and Corian. These materials are not natural, but they are not too hard to work with. With proper, unhurried processing, they can give you a classy sound.
Locking Thresholds.
Thresholds help "lock" a string at the highest point of the fingerboard and thus allow you to use a variety of tremolo systems. They are great devices to keep your guitar in tune, but it's hard to say for sure if locking thresholds have an effect on the sound.
