EAC Secures Key Wins in NCAA Season 100

After a slow start, EAC bounced back with two crucial victories, led by Gurtiza. They beat San Sebastian College-Recoletos 97-86, followed by a 78-70 win over the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA. These victories improved EAC’s record to 5-5, tying them with Lyceum of the Philippines University and strengthening their Final Four chances.

Gurtiza Earns NCAA Player of the Week

For his performances between October 8 and 13, Gurtiza was named NCAA Player of the Week by the Collegiate Press Corps. He averaged 17.5 points, 4 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals, beating out San Beda’s Yukien Andrada and Lyceum’s Renz Villegas for the honor.

Leading EAC’s Comeback Against Perpetual

Gurtiza shined in EAC’s comeback win against Perpetual, posting 21 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. The team erased a 24-point deficit, and Gurtiza credited their coach, Jerson Cabiltes, for trusting him to deliver in crucial moments.

“Our coach said this win was crucial because every game in the second round is important,” said Gurtiza. “I’m thankful we got the win—it gives us momentum for the next games.”

EAC’s Fighting Mentality

Despite falling behind by a large margin, EAC never gave up. Gurtiza, even after missing some shots, stayed focused and hit key baskets late in the game.

“Even when we were trailing, we didn’t give up. We believed we could fight back and make it tough for our opponents,” Gurtiza said. “I missed a lot of shots, but I’m thankful for the trust my coach and teammates gave me. They kept giving me the ball in crucial moments.”

Strong Performance Against San Sebastian

In EAC’s win over San Sebastian on October 8, Gurtiza tallied 14 points, six assists, three rebounds, and one steal, contributing to the team’s success.

With Gurtiza leading the charge, EAC is now in a solid position to fight for a Final Four spot in NCAA Season 100.
