CELPIP Test Introduced

Celpip Test in brief 

CELPIP is an English proficiency test designed by UBC. It was ran by Paragon testing before it was acquired by Prometric in 2021. The test is recognized by the Canadian government and many other institutions in Canada. Immigrants are encouraged to take a language proficiency test to earn extra points to improve their opportunities to settle in Canada and obtain citizenship. Taking CELPIP is a logical choice for immigrants because CELPIP test consists of contents related to life in Canada.

Celpip Writing

The celpip Writing Test is one of four components of the CELPIP. It consists of two tasks: Task 1 and Task 2.

Task 1 is a letter-writing task, in which you are required to write an informal letter from one person to another person about a given topic within 27 minutes.

Task 2 is an essay task, in which you are required to write a short essay to respond to a given topic within 26 minutes.

Celpip Speaking

The celpip speaking test consists of 8 tasks

Some of the CELPIP speaking tasks require test takers to respond to a voice recording. Some of the other CELPIP speaking tasks ask candidates to speak after viewing written materials. The last type of question is interesting, showing candidates a picture and asking them to describe the picture as thoroughly as possible. These speaking tasks can be very tricky.

Celpip Reading

The CELPIP Reading Test is one of the four components of CELPIP. It consists of four parts. The reading test lasts around 55-60 minutes. Test takers will answer 40 questions after reading some materials, for example, newspaper articles, email, and diagrams, etc.

Celpip Listening

The CELPIP listening test is one of four components of the CELPIP. It consists of six parts, which take around 47 to 55 minutes. Test takers will be answering around 38 questions in total after listening to recordings, for example, daily conversations, lectures, and news reports, etc
