What if the avatar dies in the avatar state

From Avatar: the last Airbender

Why do the previous Avatars die along with the current Avatars?

I mean, the avatar state is just a way of Raava an the previous Avatars to take control and channel their abilities to the current Avatar, so why do they all die along with the current Avatar? The game wasn't even really necessary, it can be inferred that his past lives returned when he was healed.

What happens to Raava when the Avatar dies?

Because when the avatar dies it’s like the human body dies and the spirit of a Raava moves on, but if they die in the Avatar state, Raava herself pretty much dies too. What do you think?

What is the Avatar State and how does it work?

The Avatar State is, among other things, a failsafe that protects the Avatar from harm. To do this, it triggers when the Avatar is in danger of dying. However, it cannot make the Avatar invincible, which is why it is also a vulnerability: the Avatar can die while in this state, and doing so would be Very Bad.

What is Aang's weakness as an avatar?

He warns Aang, however, that while in the Avatar State he is at his most powerful, it also possesses an important weakness: if an Avatar were to be killed while in the Avatar State, the reincarnation cycle would be broken and the Avatar would cease to exist.
