Beijing wants France to help improve China-EU ties
This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a phone call with French foreign policy adviser Emmanuel Bonn, Ukrinform reported, citing the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
"Wang Yi said: "China hopes that France will adopt a positive and open attitude towards China-EU economic and trade relations, promote China-EU cooperation, and play a constructive role in the consultations and negotiations between the two sides."
He believes that harmonious cooperation between China and Europe is in the common interests of both sides, so dialogue should be strengthened to eliminate friction and prevent the risk of a trade war between Beijing and Brussels.
"I believe that China and France have enough political wisdom to overcome differences in certain areas, promote cooperation and dialogue, and work together effectively to achieve positive development of bilateral relations.
Bonn gave a detailed introduction to France's views and concerns on the recent economic and trade relations between the EU and China.
"Europe is committed to strategic independence and seeks to create a fair business environment. The EU has no intention of excluding Chinese companies and products from the European market and hopes to resolve controversial issues through consultation," China's Foreign Ministry quoted a French presidential adviser as saying.
