On the 550th day of Perth Diary, I was almost kicked out by the landlord and talked about my rental experience

Renting a house, I am 35 years old, and I have been renting a house for the first half of my life. The house has been changed at least a dozen times. Recently, I had an unpleasant quarrel with the landlord and almost refused to renew the contract. I took this opportunity to talk about the history of renting.

Some time ago, I went to exmouth for a two-week trip, and some things happened after I came back. I didn’t have much mood to take care of the house and the garden in the front and back yards. It took about two months.

Because of the long trip, a lot of things were taken out for use on the road, and there was no motivation to return them to the original place after returning, which caused the house to be a bit messy, and weeds grew in the garden in the front and back yards. In addition, in the winter of Perth, the rain continued, which made it even worse. Don't want to cut weeds under the rose bushes.

The bathroom started to leak a little before the trip. The landlord suddenly made an appointment to check the leak. Maybe he was not happy about the leak and would have to spend a lot of money to repair it. Seeing the condition of the room, he was even more unhappy. He said that if it is not taken care of properly, nine After the month expires, we will not renew the contract.

Considering the current rental market in Perth, it really scared me. After I came to Australia, I lived in airbnb for two weeks, and I also rented the second bedroom with two other Chinese families. Almost dozens of people searched for houses through intermediaries. Going to look at the house, and then without a full-time job and rental history in Australia, there is almost no chance to find a house from an intermediary, and the competition of dozens of people, even if the rent price at the beginning is already ridiculously expensive, there will still be Many people raise the price privately with the intermediary, and it becomes that whoever has money has a better chance of renting. This is really unfriendly to me.

Recently, because of the domestic situation, everyone is well aware that more and more friends want to go abroad, and more and more families want to send their children to study abroad. This has led to an increase in the population of Western Australia, a region with convenient immigration policies. Outrageous, it has become the city with the lowest vacancy rate in Australia.

So I hurriedly confessed my mistakes to the landlord, admitted the mistake, and explained the reasons. Finally, the landlord agreed to formally inspect the house on last Sunday, so I cleaned up the house almost every day last week, regardless of whether it was raining or not, even in the rain. Kneeling on the ground to pull weeds, wipe the glass, and clean up the places that were not cleaned up before I moved in. Even though I looked at the photos of the house before I moved in, the things that the landlord was not happy with were leftover problems, so I didn’t dare to be careless, and cleaned them all up. .

In the end, the landlord and his wife came to check the house and expressed their satisfaction. They said happily, "It's so clean that he can live in anytime."

Only when the hanging heart falls to the ground.

My rental history is too rich, but the rental culture in Australia is too different from the domestic rental culture. Although the law protects tenants here, they will not be easily kicked out, but they cannot bear the shortage of housing resources and price increases. , There is nothing to say about getting out when the contract expires.

When I was in China, when I was working at Huawei in 2013, I lived in the Handshake Building in Horseshoe Mountain in Shenzhen. There are more than 600 rooms with a toilet. Living alone is not stressful. Later, when I went to work for Huawei overseas, the company chartered a house and it was also a good idea. Don't worry.

Later, I went to Beijing to work, and the company gave me a housing subsidy of 3,000 yuan. Even in Beijing, the pressure of renting a house was not great. Later, when I returned to Chengdu, it was the history of all kinds of blood and tears in renting a house.

When I returned to Chengdu, my first job was in a public institution, and the company was still in charge of the staff dormitory. I rented the commercial housing of Vanke. Apart from not being so happy with my roommates, the accommodation was never a problem.

After leaving the public institution, I started to change places every year. I lived in a three-bedroom apartment in Yifeng New City for a year. My roommate moved out temporarily and couldn’t afford the house price. I moved to Nanyang Jincheng Boutique and met the most disgusting landlord. , when I moved in, everything was fine, but when I moved out, all kinds of faults were withheld from the deposit.

Finally, before leaving Chengdu, I moved to Sijichun. I have lived here for more than two years. Although the landlord doesn’t find fault, he doesn’t care about it. If anything happens, he can figure it out by himself, but compared to the previous landlord, he is already the best landlord. .

It can only be said that the experience of renting a house really has a certain relationship with the condition of the house, but the greater relationship still comes from the landlord. Let alone the legal provisions of renting a house are not systematic and are not enforced at all. If China’s law is ruled by man, renting a house is entirely up to the landlord. Some landlords buy a house just for renting, and all the things thrown in the house are outdated and simple products, and you are not allowed to throw them away and replace them with your own.

In this way, many houses in Australia are vacant, and they are all purchased by themselves. Although the bleeding was relatively heavy at the beginning, it is still comfortable to live in after a severe pain. For example, almost all the things in the house we are renting now are owned purchased.

Generally speaking, I didn’t suffer too much when renting a house in China. When I came to Australia to rent an airnbn for the transition, let’s not talk about it, this kind of temporary renting didn’t feel settled at all, and I wanted to move out every day.

So I have the experience of living with a Chinese landlord. In fact, after so many years abroad, the contact experience with foreigners, in general, foreigners have a sense of distance between each other and the basic quality of mutual respect, although not everyone They are all mature, but the proportion is much higher.

Although perth is in Australia, a developed country, everyone basically comes from the cultural background of China. The feeling of mutual respect is really far from the same. Simply put, everyone's status in life is not equal. In many cases, it is okay that the landlord cannot do it himself, but it is a big problem if the tenant forgets to do it. I think the lack of understanding of the tenant is the main core of the problem.

Most of the tenants are used by the landlord to make money. It is best to never show up, so as not to cause any inconvenience to the landlord. It is best to help the landlord take care of the baby and pick up the children to and from school, such as my previous landlord.

So the feeling of being dependent on others is really hard to describe. I often emphasize the independence of personality, but it is almost impossible to achieve this kind of situation under the domination of others, because the status is inherently unequal, and the landlord does not want to be equal.

I once shared with my friends my thoughts about the landlord’s tenants. Although the other party is still renting a house, he already has the idea of being a second landlord and renting out the extra bedroom, which is already the landlord’s position. However, the value of the Three Views can be seen in some small things, and it is a blessing to stop contacting.

Therefore, I often delete friends. I delete those friends who are no longer in contact with each other or who have obvious differences in the three views. Don’t worry about it. They are not the same kind of people. Not a bad thing.

Recently, many friends who are coming here have asked me about renting a house in Perth. I can only say that this may be the most difficult thing to land in Australia except visa.

The house I am renting now has two bedrooms. Although the financial pressure is very high, I have never thought about renting it out. I don’t want to use the relief of economic pressure in exchange for mental torture, because for adults, no matter how good the relationship is There are bound to be problems together. Without the protection of privacy space, there is almost no way to maintain a sense of distance between each other. So I would rather have my purse damaged, but also have a purer mind. Loneliness is also a good time to think.

I don’t have too many thoughts recently, so I’ll just chat with you about renting a house. I believe that if I have a house to rent out in the future, I will definitely be a good landlord, haha.
