In the private filming circle, most photographers and models use stage names, and it is difficult to restrict them by establishing contracts and other norms. However, when shooting on-site, models can also have countermeasures to balance the power of both parties.

When you mention "Private Shadow", is your first impression positive or negative? In a broad sense, "private filming" refers to all private filming activities, and among them, filming activities in private spaces (such as studios, photographers' homes, hotel rooms, etc.) are the most criticized: "Private filming is a lot of pornography. Teacher", "Since girls take private photos, they should have expected sexual harassment", "Models charge so much, there must be other services" and other comments cannot be exhaustive.

On the other hand, there are still many professional photographers and models in the private film circle, working hard to create and shoot high-level works, and some people try to let more people have a glimpse of the private film work in the form of shooting teaching and private film experience sharing veil. However, when the general public is still taboo to talk about "sex" or "sexual desire", and it is especially easy to criticize women who mention "sex" in the way of slut-shaming (slut-shame), it is inevitable that people will be concerned about the sexual violence in the process of private filming. Avoid talking, turning a blind eye.

As a private photo model and portrait photographer, I would like to focus on the dark side of private photos──the "sexual issue" that people are taboo to talk about─how those hypocritical photographers do to models in the process of private photos sexual violence.

persuasive hypocrite

Photographers with ulterior motives always know how to "seduce" models: During the shooting process, they always praise you for being charming, and keep telling you how intoxicating you are with flattering words──"You are very good at seducing people", "Can the underwear be lowered a little bit", "You make me want it so much", "It's too sexy to bear"──They want you to remember that you caused their desire, and the subtext is "It's not my fault" ".

They'll also ask politely -- from "Could you adjust your clothes?" to "Can I fix your posture?" to "You're so attractive. No, can I touch you lightly?", "If I can't, can I masturbate in front of you?"

They still want you to remember, and it's all because you're so charming that they lost their composure. However, it is never you who are wrong, it is always the aggressor who is wrong. At the moment you have been indoctrinated with the idea that you are the one who tempted the crime, you have no space to think, and you have lost the strength to deal with what is happening, because the perpetrator wraps up all the violations with inquiries as if they fit Reasonable.

If you are sensitive and know how to refuse, the other party will also pretend that you have no intention of probing, and instead point out that you think too much, "it doesn't matter", but they will continue to push and test you until you can only use "it doesn't matter / it doesn't matter" Convince yourself to accept the molestation or assault that is happening in front of you.

What's more serious is that what the victim can do after the filming is over is not to consider calling the police or asking for help at the first time, but to refuse the other party's next invitation, and worry that the other party will have his own photos. Can let it be fabricated without a hundred words to argue.

This is a common problem encountered by private shadow models. Why is this happening? Because we are afraid of people not understanding.

Today's climate does not believe that "good women" will agree to be photographed with sexy and nude images. The society is good at using binary divisions to make people believe that "good women" will not take these "bad" photos. So when there are images leaked, everyone will only see is believing, and immediately accuse the person in the picture-"I have taken these photos, it is difficult not to lead people to commit crimes, it has been expected."

Before I could organize my thoughts, I experienced the temptations of those hypocritical photographers again and again. Until two years ago, my photos were leaked again, which triggered me to start sharing my experiences and thoughts on the photography account of Instagram. Discussing the power differences in private photography, and constantly thinking about how I, as a model, should deal with those intruders with ulterior motives who are bound to prey on the private photography circle in the name of photography in this private space and environment?

I asked my friends to help me reproduce the situation during the private filming process.

my coping method

1. During the shooting process, continue to ask the real information of the other party

Photographers with ulterior motives always try to hide everything about themselves as much as possible. If you get more real information about the other party, such as about the other party's work, chatting about life preferences, shooting habits, etc., the other party will become taboo.

2. Promptly mention "Need a break" to interrupt the ambiguous atmosphere

Photographers with more power are prone to indulge in control, especially if they are shooting erotic subjects. From time to time, I will ask for "drinking water" or "rest", and then turn on all the lights or curtains to interrupt the "chemical interaction" between the two parties at the right time, change the emotional atmosphere, pull the two parties back from fantasy, and remind them that they are " Filming", after all, rest is a basic right, and the other party cannot refuse it.

3. Talking constantly while doing sexually alluring actions

A model is a person, not a thing. When you don’t speak when you are doing more seductive actions, the photographer will easily ignore that you are an individual, and easily objectify you, becoming an object of his wanton fantasy. They will want to touch you at will, because at that moment, he does not consider you a "human being". The best way to remind the photographer is that you always have the right to be a "human being"—to speak.

Don’t forget to ask before shooting: “Can I bring a companion to attend the shooting?” Even if you are not planning to bring a friend to accompany you, this question is also a good way to screen out. Once the other party rejects you or makes many excuses, remember Be extra careful, even if you are accompanied by a friend to shoot, you also need to prevent the other party from creating a space for solitude.

This is me photographing another girl.

Advice to all photographers

Advice to all photographers──Please be careful, it is natural to praise the model. If she does not have the characteristics that attract you, you probably will not want to shoot, but don’t forget that your words and deeds carry orders. You are manipulating the image itself, please always be aware of the power you have when shooting, and if you say something that may offend the other party, then don't say it.

Respecting others and emphasizing communication are the basic etiquette of being a human being, and it is the same for photographers and models.

There are so many scumbags in the private film industry, why am I still in this industry? If it weren't for these experiences, I probably wouldn't have met more beautiful people. I still have a lot to say, and I will save it for the lecture in the "Experience" multimedia exhibition held by Hong Kong Phantom Society-"Private Videos", and then Let's talk about it one by one.

Editor's Note: The exhibition contains nudity. Viewers must be 18 years old or above to participate in programs held at the exhibition venue.
