I wrote two articles a while ago, sharing my experience of interviewing in different places. Logically speaking, I should have left the old unit at this moment and started a new job.

But at this moment, only half of things happened, and only left the old unit, but the new job has not started, and even the new job has been "aborted". I spent a week dealing with this and digesting my emotions. Now that the matter has come to an end, I can more calmly sort out the ins and outs of the whole thing, as well as my own state of mind when encountering this.

Here's how things started...

I originally expected to report to the new unit on 6/20, so I pressed the resignation date to 6/17. On the 17th, when I was going through the resignation procedures, I received bad news from the personnel room of the new unit. They said that the application for the work permit was rejected, and relayed the statement of the underwriter of the Ministry of Labor: It was because I applied for a job at the school counseling center as a "psychologist", but it was not in compliance with the regulations. Because to engage in the work of medical personnel (including psychologists), the workplace must be in a medical unit, that is, a "hospital".

I was extremely dumbfounded, but I didn't know where the confidence came from. Although I didn't know how to deal with it, I simply held the idea of "it should be reasonable for me to go to school to be a psychologist", and then used a kind of "Leave the matter to me." "That's right," he told the new unit's personnel office: "Let me handle the rest, and I will definitely be able to solve it." But it was only after I actually dealt with the staff of the Ministry of Labor that I really realized what it means to be "helpless." ". The confidence from the beginning was gone.

The arrogance and deaf ears of the undertaker made me unable to resist!

The response from the staff of the Ministry of Labor left me powerless to fight back. It is not because the reasons of the undertaker are sufficient and legitimate, but because the undertaker is too unreasonable. At that time, I immediately checked and found that Article 28 of the "Foreign Employment Law" formulated by the Ministry of Labor itself mentioned that the so-called "medical institutions" include "legal practice registration institutions". The counseling center of the school (college) is a legal practice registration agency approved by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, otherwise, where does the school psychologist's practice registration license come from? Judging from the description of the regulations, I can definitely go to school as a psychologist.

However, no matter how hard I tried to explain to the undertaker the legality of applying for practice registration at the school counseling center, and I brought out the laws of the Ministry of Labor, he always said, "If you want to be a psychologist, you are Only in a medical facility!" And even said, "It's against the law if you're doing counseling work at a university." Then he scare me by bringing out other regulations that I might be breaking.

The phrase "statutory practice registration institution" obviously does not just refer to "medical institutions". Aside from the fact that the undertaker's ability to interpret words is so poor that it is astounding, no matter how I explain it, he has brought his ability to "deaf ears" to the extreme! It's okay if he doesn't understand the text and doesn't listen to explanations, and his tone is super arrogant and vicious, as if to convey the attitude of "I just don't let your application pass, what can you do?!"

The most irritating thing is that no matter how hard the undertaker doesn't listen, no matter how bad his attitude is, I can't fight back at all, especially since he has the power to pass my work permit.

The agreement with the new unit not to hire me, but I don't want it to end

I am helpless. Although the supervisor of the new unit also wanted to help me, they also questioned the legitimacy of my work as a psychologist in the school because of the remarks of the undertaker. I don't know what to do with this and I don't want to cause trouble for the new unit. In the case of my reluctance, I had to reach an agreement that the new unit would not hire me, and they would immediately look for alternate candidates.

The old unit also quickly learned about my situation, and the new team leader who was about to take office also asked me if I wanted to stay in the old unit. Even if I wanted to, it would still take a few days for the principal to agree to determine my stay. But I don't think the matter can end here, otherwise I won't be able to work as a psychologist in Taiwan for the next few years. And that night, I kept calling the legislator's office, which had not finished its service hours, for assistance. In addition, I have always been full of doubts about the statement of the undertaker, so I also sought help from other foreign psychologists through other channels. At the same time, I also started looking for a new job. In one night, I did a lot of things just to keep my job.

It wasn't until a few days later that the whole thing turned upside down.

But what happened next was another story...
