Note from the Beast: Recently, the Mitu movement in Taiwan has become very popular, and Wang Dan has also been involved. By the way, I remembered a few articles I read many years ago, and I will share them with you.

(Deutsche Welle Chinese website) On the eve of the 34th anniversary of June 4th, Chinese June 4th student movement leader and well-known pro-democracy activist Wang Dan was accused by a Taiwanese man of sexually harassing him in the United States nine years ago. The accuser held a press conference on Sunday (June 4) to explain what happened that year, and presented relevant evidence of getting along with Wang Dan in the United States that year.

"Why, Wang Dan, can you speak out for the person who stood in front of the tank, continue to wear such a halo, and stand here on the souls of those who have sacrificed under the power and violence of the CCP? You can see You can pay attention to their human rights and pursue these democratic freedoms, but now I am facing you, Wang Dan, and I am like the person standing in front of the tank.” Facebook alias Li On the 34th anniversary of June 4th, the Taiwanese men who supported the army held a press conference to accuse them.

Li Yuanjun continued: "I'm very scared, because I feel that if I'm not careful, I might be killed by your tank. You have too much power than me, you have too much halo, your They can even reach out to political or academic circles to suppress me, but I can only tell myself that I am not afraid."

Li Yuanjun was a political worker in Taiwan and served as an assistant to Lin Liangjun, a non-party Taipei City Councilor. Accompanied by Lin Liangjun and his lawyer, he held a press conference at the Taipei City Council. In addition to stating his experiences back then, he also showed screenshots of his Facebook conversations with Wang Dan back then, as well as photos he took at Wang Dan’s residence in the United States as evidence.

Li Yuanjun pointed out that after being sexually harassed by Wang Dan, because of his fear, he made recordings when he was with Wang Dan in the United States. Wang Dan is required to publicly apologize to him before the end of June 6, Taiwan time, otherwise he will be formally prosecuted.

Wang Dan posted a response on Facebook later on the same day: "Welcome to file a lawsuit, and support the use of legal methods to find the truth of the matter."

Wang Dan: Sexual harassment does not exist at all

After Li Yuanjun's accusation, Wang Dan, who is currently in New York, posted a 3-point response on Facebook on the 3rd. He wrote: "First, the 'sexual harassment' mentioned by this author does not exist at all. Second, it has been clearly stated above. I still have a lot of things to do, so I will not make any further responses. Third , my political activities will not be affected in any way, and I will continue to advance. The 'June 4th Memorial Hall' officially opens today, please pay attention to it. Thank you."

Wang Dan also pointed out: "The author himself said that he deliberately chose the time point of June 4th, and he especially emphasized that he hoped that people in the political circle would treat me well. Such statements have actually explained the problem."

Wang Dan responded that he was questioned by public opinion but failed to respond positively. He posted a post later on the same day saying, "I was surprised to find that many netizens still think that I have not responded positively. It is really helpless." There is a huge gap with my memory. In addition, the students I have interacted with have many work partners, some of whom may not have been in touch for a long time, and it is indeed difficult for me to respond further to their unilateral text descriptions."

In response to Wang Dan's insinuation that he made this public on June 4th, with ulterior motives, Li Yuanjun responded to the media at a press conference on the 4th, saying that he had never dared to read Wang Dan's information in the past 9 years, and he didn't even know that Wang Dan was on June 2nd. In New York, I was going to attend the opening of the June 4th Memorial Hall . "The timing of posting the article was completely a coincidence." I decided to speak out after being encouraged by the recent incidents of political workers in Taiwan who came forward to accuse workplace sexual harassment.

Taiwan's #Metoo storm

There have been a number of allegations of sexual harassment in Taiwan recently. First, the ruling Democratic Progressive Party broke out four cases of sexual harassment within the party, triggering extensive discussions in local public opinion. In this regard, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen publicly stated through Facebook on the 2nd, "As the former party chairman, I am duty-bound. I would like to express my deepest apologies to the victimized friends and the general public. "

In addition, Bei Ling, a Chinese exiled writer living in Taiwan, was also accused by Jian Liying, a well-known Taiwanese writer and one of the screenwriters of the Taiwanese drama "The Chosen One". Touching male sexual organs with hands, rubbing through pants, etc.

In an interview with Taiwan's Central News Agency, Belling said that the accusation was "completely a fabrication" and that the other party "placed what happened to her on others, or what did not happen to me", and said that he would "put it on me in legal terms." the right to preserve one's own reputation".

The whole story of Wang Dan's sexual harassment case

Li Yuanjun publicly accused Wang Dan on Facebook on the 2nd. On the evening of June 6, 2014, in a hotel in the Flushing area of New York, Wang Dan "forced kissed" and "attempted to rape" him at the time when he was 20 years old.

He stated in a post on Facebook that when he first started participating in social movements, he met Wang Dan and his assistant surnamed Xie at a party. "'Wang Dan', a character who once appeared in my history textbooks, and his past experience of being praised by others, made me look forward to him very much, just like seeing a celebrity." Later, Wang Dan invited him to go to the Beauty "sees the world".

In the hotel room in Flushing, New York, when Wang Dan was alone with him, he embraced him from behind by the window and kissed him forcefully. "Before I could react for a while, Wang Dan pushed me onto the bed, continued to force kisses, and tried to untie my underwear. I was so scared that I didn't know how to react. Push away." Li Yuanjun wrote.

Li Yuanjun pointed out that he immediately said that before he came to the United States, the anal canal had just been operated on and he hadn't recovered yet, so he asked him not to do this. "Although Wang Dan did stop, in the next week, I continued to face his occasional verbal teasing, sexual harassment jokes, and continued express hints that he hoped that I would sleep with him." After responding to the assistant surnamed Xie, only I got replies such as "The teacher is joking, don't take it seriously, he is just playing around", but did not receive assistance.

Li Yuanjun said that he has endured it for 9 years, "Every time it comes to June 4th, the day when Wang Dan needs to speak out, I feel very disgusted and disturbed. I am afraid of this person, I am afraid of hearing his voice, and I am afraid of seeing him. look."

Cao Changqing: Wang Dan with "five faults"

Many people probably think that "infighting" has led to the dismal situation of the overseas democracy movement. In fact, "showing off but not doing anything" is an important part of destroying the overseas democracy movement. The more people want to show off, the less they do things, because they spend all their energy on chasing the limelight. The problem is, if there is no result, it is very difficult to do a show, so I started to play fake ones. Of course, "fake" things cannot "truly" promote the democracy movement, but can only tarnish the reputation and image of the democracy movement.

Wang Dan is one of the representatives in this regard. He just played a "fake brain tumor" incident, and after being criticized, he didn't reflect on it. Instead, he played a bigger "fake Nobel Prize" (see my "Wang Dan's joint letter, making a show to create a Nobel Prize") . A Taiwan newspaper reporter said a very accurate sentence: "Wang Dan used this undemocratic method to fight for democracy in Hong Kong, what a big joke!"

Not only is it a big joke, but there is also an exchange of interest chains behind it. Wang Dan will continue to play such fake things with the attitude of an "overseas democracy movement spokesperson", so it is necessary to review Wang Dan's character. Does he have the qualifications to issue declarations and statements on behalf of the overseas democracy movement in such a short period of time.

First, selling friends and begging for mercy?

As early as the summer of 1997, an absolutely trustworthy friend of mine met a judge who tried Wang Dan at a dinner party in Beijing. He said that Wang Dan has no backbone at all, and he will explain everything, which is simply too bear. A friend told me that when the judge mentioned Wang Dan, his face was full of disdain and contempt. But I have never mentioned this matter to outsiders, firstly because it is just the judge's one-sided statement, and secondly because I believe that the weakness of people in the hands of the Communist Party is still justifiable.

It was only later that I found out that China Spring actually published an article in 1991, saying that the CCP’s trial of Wang Dan was “surprisingly flat, as if everything was expected and premeditated. Before leaving the court, Wang Dan smiled wryly, and said softly to the judge and the public prosecutor: "How was my performance in court? The other party nodded silently." This was quite a frowning scene.

In June of this year (2014), it was seen from the media reports on the new book "Thinking of the Walker" by Zhang Sizhi, a well-known Chinese lawyer, that as Wang Juntao's defense lawyer, Zhang Sizhi was quite dissatisfied with the behavior of a certain student leader. He didn't call the name, but anyone who knew anything knew it was Wang Dan. The report said: "Zhang Sizhi said that the testimony of a student movement leader was very disgraceful. He checked the file and paid special attention to what several major student movement leaders provided to the prosecution. Unexpectedly, one of the testimonies was a slave Yan, the statement is shocking: "All my actions in Tiananmen Square, all my actions in the headquarters are under the command of Wang Juntao", "Wang Juntao is my abettor". For a long time, Zhang Sizhi did not understand this person. , and even later, someone asked Zhang Sizhi to defend him, but Zhang Sizhi refused without hesitation. He believed that after being imprisoned by the Communist Party, he would not be able to withstand it. He would not only understand, but also forgive when he explained the problem. Human nature must be allowed to have weaknesses. The key You can't pull other people's backs, let alone harm others, that's betrayal, not to mention that you are a 'vicious attack', you pretend to be a leader, and lead the 'academic circle', why are you still being 'instigated'? What is an abettor? Officially He can't add this charge."

In fact, as early as 1992, Chen Ziming, who was sentenced together with Wang Juntao for 13 years, published "Chen Ziming's Reflection on Ten Years of Reform" in Hong Kong (I only recently learned about it), clearly pointing out that Wang Dan was in prison. accused.

It is written in the book: "Wang Dan has testified hundreds of thousands of words for nearly 500 people, and his memory of the three testimonies he gave to me is precisely wrong." "A large number of facts prove that Wang Dan's several testimonies are It is a statement against his will", "it is related to the reputation of the witness", "resolutely demanded to confront the main witness Wang Dan", "let him clean up a major stain that may remain in history". (See pages 429, 431, and 495 of the book published by Hong Kong's "Contemporary Monthly" in 1992).

People can generally forgive me for being weak in the Communist Party's prison, writing self-review books and so on. However, among the people arrested for the June 4 incident, I have never heard of anyone who confessed on such a "large scale" as Wang Dan, involving as many as nearly 500 people!

During the 1989 democracy movement, the Secretary-General of the Beijing Higher Education Federation, who was sentenced many times, and now the United States, Wang Youcai said, "Everyone who lived in Qincheng (prison) at that time knew what Wang Dan explained. Write materials to educate us, let us also explain."

From the words of Wang Juntao's lawyer, Chen Ziming, Wang Youcai, and the judge who tried Wang Dan, it can be confirmed that Wang Dan not only bowed his knees to confess, but even accused others. In Zhang Sizhi's words, this is "pulling others to the back and hurting others." . From the limited materials disclosed, Wang Dan made false accusations against both Wang Juntao and Chen Ziming. Then, among the materials involving as many as 500 people, how many people did Wang Dan make false accusations against?

Zhang Sizhi said that the reason why he did not name the student leader in the book is to expect him to reflect on himself in the future. However, after so many years, has Wang Dan ever had any introspection?

According to the early articles of Liu Gang (the longest sentence among the students), who was sentenced to 6 years after June 4th, he tried his best to persuade Wang Dan to "face his own conscience and reflect on it", hoping that he would "overturn all confessions and confessions". Wang Dan said indifferently, "Said there was no need for it, and he was fully responsible for everything he said." (Democracy Movement publication "Little Reference" May 30, 1999).

Wang Dan thought that the whole world didn't know what he explained. This is as absurd and shameless as when people asked him where his $200,000 pro-democracy funds went. After Wang Dan was released from prison, he boasted that he was the number one on the CCP's most wanted list, and published a book to publicize that he was the "No. 1 political prisoner in the June 4th Tiananmen Incident" to prove that he was the leader of the 1989 Movement. That being the case, why was the blame completely removed and all blamed on Wang Juntao in prison?

Wang Juntao and Chen Ziming, who are far less "influential figures" than Wang Dan in the square, were both sentenced to 13 years in prison, while Wang Dan was only sentenced to 4 years in prison. Does this have nothing to do with Wang Dan's accusation?

This is because the CCP wants to do business with the world today, so it sent Wang Juntao to the United States under pressure. Let's imagine, if this is the anti-rightist, during the Cultural Revolution era, what kind of consequences will it bring about Wang Dan's accusations against Wang Juntao, Chen Ziming, and XX among those 500 people? However, Wang Dan did not reflect on such a serious problem with confidence.

What is even more surprising is that Chen Ziming came to the United States for treatment earlier this year (2014) due to cancer. Wang Dan actually posted a statement on Facebook without shame, calling Chen Ziming "big brother" and saying that "the government accused them of instigating students"! Obviously it was him, Wang Dan, who planted all the blame on Wang Juntao and Chen Ziming, but today he can say "government charges" as if nothing happened, and even talk about how they are in prison at the same time in the tone of calling Chen Ziming brothers and sisters. Passionate readers, raise your own social status. When Chen Ziming was in the most difficult time in prison, Wang Dan fell into trouble. But when Chen Ziming first arrived in the United States and was cast by the spotlight of the media, Wang Dan actually had the nerve to "excuse the light" to shine on himself. People can be so shameless.

Everyone may be weak and make mistakes (especially in certain circumstances), but how to face one's own mistakes can better reveal a person's character. Sophistry and denial of mistakes are ten times, a hundred times more unforgivable than the mistakes themselves! Because that proves: first, he doesn’t even know right from wrong, and doesn’t take mistakes as wrong; second, I’m like this, what can you do to me! Third, what's more, it turns concave into convex, and moral blemishes into moral brilliance.

With such a character, Wang Dan can not only declare himself a "June 4 idol" in a high-profile manner today, but also act as a spokesperson for the overseas democracy movement. Do you need to talk?

Second, a corrupt and vulgar son-in-law?

On August 11, 2003, Taiwan's "United Daily News" reported on Wang Dan with this headline: "Petty bourgeois atmosphere upper body, fashionable Wang Dan exposed!" ──Shopping to catch up with fashion, a basket of famous brands". The article said in a eulogizing style that Wang Dan at the time of June 4 was very rustic, "But now he has undergone myopia surgery to avoid the pain of wearing glasses, his short hair is held up with mousse, he is wearing an a/x top, eight Split trousers, NEW BALANCE sneakers, a silver star on the neck, and a silver bracelet on the wrist.”

The report went on to describe Wang Dan’s wealth in this way: “Nowadays, Wang Dan is famous for everything he uses: in the United States, he drives a Corona car, wears a Swiss DES ARIOS watch, sings at Hao Ledi, drinks coffee at PEETS or STARBUCKS, in California Fitness in the gym, and fashion information comes from magazines such as "MEN´S JOURNAL" and "GQ". He joked that he was 'very petty bourgeoisie'."

Wang Dan himself also disclosed, "I like Armani, FRENCH CONNECTION, BANANA REPUBLIC, DIESEL and other brands, and I dress young." "In the United States, I dare to wear it when I usually go to dance at night, and I dare to wear revealing holey clothes. He also told reporters that if he didn't take into account his mother slapping him and public opinion, he would do things like "hair dyeing and ear piercing". He even mocked US President George W. Bush, "dressed poorly."

I recently saw from Wang Dan’s Facebook that he often shows off what restaurants and beautiful scenery he eats and drinks in (probably he will start deleting posts after reading this article), often drinks Starbucks, and shows off all kinds of wine at home. There are large houses with beautiful waterside views, etc.

Not to mention, a self-proclaimed "June 4 Idol" with silver necklaces, Swiss watches, silver bracelets, famous brands all over his body, and hairspray standing upright. The disgusting vulgarity of dandies like melons, and more importantly, where did Wang Dan get the money to enjoy those luxury and famous brands? He only graduated from Harvard in 2008, and in 2003 he was able to wear famous brands, go to karaoke clubs, and go to bars. Moreover, in the summer of 2000, Wang Dan went to Paris, and when he first arrived, he wanted to find a pub (bar), and showed off to his friends that he had been to the pub more than 200 times.

Please pay attention to this time: In the summer of 2000, Wang Dan had just been abroad for two years (arrived in the United States in April 1998), and had been to bars more than 200 times! Not to mention in 2000, even today, how many pro-democracy activists have been to bars and know how much a glass of wine costs in bars? Besides, is Wang Dan still studying? How many foreign students studying at Harvard have the energy to go to bars and have fun? Now he has been abroad for more than 16 years, and he has probably been to bars thousands of times, right?

Among overseas pro-democracy activists, I have neither seen nor heard of anyone who is as capable and energetic as Wang Dan in chasing fashion, eating, drinking and having fun. What business did Wang Dan create? Where does this much money come from?

It is already well known that Taiwan's state affairs secret fee is 200,000 US dollars. Wang Dan said that he supports the domestic democracy activists. 200,000 US dollars is 1.2 million RMB. If there are 10,000 pro-democracy activists in China, there must be 120 people. It can’t be possible to name a single person, right? Wang Youcai, who once transferred funds to domestic pro-democracy activists, said that in 2004, Wang Dan mentioned that there was a sum of money that should be donated to the country, but there was no follow-up after that.

I don't know if Wang Dan thought about it when he was wearing famous brands and going to bars, or if he had heard of Li Wangyang...

Tang Baiqiao, who participated in the "China Youth Human Rights Award" established by the Tiananmen Generation in 2001, pointed out that Wang Dan was the head of the foundation, but it was a bad debt. Members of the foundation once asked Wang Dan to disclose the expenditure of the fund, but Wang Dan refused to give any explanation, which eventually led to the disbandment of the Tiananmen Generation organization and the foundation was taken away by Wang Dan. He can still use this name to engage in external activities and accept donations, with a "whatever" attitude.

Feng Congde, the deputy commander-in-chief of Tiananmen Square at the time, also pointed out recently that he had set up a "mutual aid fund" with Wang Dan and others to assist the families of victims in China. Later, it was discovered that many donations from the United States, Taiwan and Hong Kong had entered Wang Dan's personal account. Wang Dan refused to check the accounts, and did not recognize the results of the re-election of the leader of the "mutual aid fund". Feng Congde said that Wang Dan was afraid that the funds in his private account would be known by outsiders.

In fact, the above accounts are still "small money". We all know that the amount of money available to support individuals is very limited. External fundraising requires an organization and a foundation. Around 1996-1997, I learned that a foundation run by two Tiananmen student leaders had donated $1 million. In the past few years, Wang Dan has held the titles of chairman and president of at least eight pro-democracy organizations that can raise donations. Officially reported by the media, except for the 200,000 US dollars in his own hands, "Beijing Spring" with Wang Dan as the president and "China Constitution and Political Consultative Conference" as the chairman have all been fixed by the US and Taiwan governments. funding.

The "Chinese Democracy College (Network)" where Wang Dan currently serves as the chairman of the board of directors holds fundraising dinners in Taiwan every year. In 2012, Democratic Progressive Party presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen, DPP chairman Su Zhenchang, and former chairman You Xikun were all invited to attend the dinner. Former President Lee Teng-hui also donated a painting of calligraphy to the charity sale (700,000 sold). The academy is also raising funds in Hong Kong and other places, and it also appeals for individual donations online and on Wang Dan's personal Facebook page; and Wang Dan once told the media that his "fundraising agencies are all over Europe, America, Hong Kong and other places."

If you carefully track Wang Dan's activities over the years, you will find that he mainly made statements, issued declarations, expanded his personal influence, and then raised funds; the purpose of raising funds is...to make the next statement...and then to go out The cycle of declaring and issuing a statement. In the mass movements in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Wang Dan was in the limelight. During the Taiwan Sunflower Student Movement, the enthusiasm of Taiwanese people for donations surpassed that of the presidential election. How many of them went to Wang Dan?

Of course, it is reasonable to raise funds for the democratic movement, but the question is how much money did his various organizations and foundations donate? Where are they all used? What have you done? How many of them became the famous brand outfits on his body?

Among all Chinese overseas pro-democracy activists, Wang Dan is one of the public figures with the most titles and the highest amount of public funds. He himself once came out to refute the rumors, saying that someone accused him of "assets of hundreds of millions" (Taiwan dollars?). But apart from his own statement, I haven't seen it anywhere else, and I can't even search for his "assets of hundreds of millions" on Google. I really don't know where the "rumor" is that Wang Danyi strictly "dispels" it. It's not just to show off his wealth, he made a rumor, right?

The Communist Party also pretends to fight corruption. So how can a person who raises donations everywhere as a representative figure of the Chinese pro-democracy movement wear famous brands and jewelry, and at the same time refuse all audits with confidence? Some pro-democracy activists told me that we have nothing to do with Wang Dan. It is so difficult for domestic people, but Wang Dan refuses to vomit at all. He also has a small gang that shares interests, and they all protect the bureau. His current situation is actually more carefree than the officials of the Communist Party, and no one cares about him—the United States, Hong Kong and Taiwan, no one can control him, and he can't even check the accounts of "his own family". He is almost like a little Mao Zedong.

Third, habit of lying?

After it was revealed that President Chen Shui-bian gave Wang Dan $200,000 in state secret fees. Wang Dan insisted that he did not know that the 200,000 US dollars was given by Chen Shuibian, and told the media in a serious manner, "I never ask about the source of funds."

This is really a lie. The fact is: Accompanied by a dark green figure, Wang Dan met President Chen Shui-bian and asked him to support the Chinese democracy movement. After he made this request, Chen Shui-bian allocated funds to him from the State Secret Fund. In other words, it was Wang Dan's request that came first and money later. Wang Dan clearly knew where the money came from. In the face of doubts, Wang Dan's consistent approach is: first pretend to be stupid, and when he can't hide, he makes up a lie to deny it;

During the recent "brain tumor" turmoil, the people of Taiwan have seriously discussed whether they should sympathize with him, whether the Immigration Department should make an exception and allow him to return to Taiwan, etc. But none of this is on point. The real problem is that Wang Dan has left the United States 20 to 30 times, and he knows very well that without a valid travel document (for Wang Dan, it is a reentry permit), no matter how Taiwan gives the green light, he will never be able to pass through the security check at the US airport , unable to leave the United States. But he created a false issue of whether Taiwan should allow him to enter the country as an exception, which caused the three departments of the ROC Immigration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mainland Affairs Council to hold a joint meeting to discuss this non-existent issue. Wang Dan is tantamount to cheating and tricking the whole of Taiwan. But never a word of apology afterwards!

The dizziness may be caused by a brain tumor. It costs 1,750 dollars to measure blood pressure in the United States, 20,000 to 30,000 dollars for a brain scan, you cannot buy Obama medical insurance if you are not in the United States, you can enter and leave the United States with only a green card, etc., but in this incident Wang Dan lied a lot along the way. Are these all accidental? of course not.

For their own life experience, everyone may have various memory errors (this is a common phenomenon), or they may make mistakes, or the time and place are wrong, or they may brag about past experiences, and no one will blame them. However, some of Wang Dan's matters are beyond the scope of the above, which is obviously a lie.

I didn't spend much time investigating, I just picked it up. For example, according to Su Xiaokang's article "Wang Dan's Generation and Bo Guagua's Generation", Wang Dan said that he posted "the first big-character poster" when he was 5 or 6 years old, "I laughed when Mao Zedong died", "12 years old He was interrogated by the Ministry of Public Security for forming a party." At the same time, he also said that he was a member of the "Young Pioneers Squadron, Secretary of the Youth League Branch, participated in the District Youth League Congress, participated in the Central Committee of the Youth League, and in 1987, "Beijing Municipal Excellent League Cadres", and even the school party committee" also told me Confidential, ready to develop me to join the party.'”

Mao Zedong was 7 years old when he died. Does Wang Dan want to say that he was an anti-Mao hero when he was 7 years old? Even so, but this child anti-Mao hero became a "Young Pioneers cadre" when he first entered elementary school, was censored by the police for forming a party at the age of 12 (when he graduated from elementary school), and became an excellent league cadre who almost joined the party when he was in middle school , and later, when he was just a freshman in college, he changed his face and became a radical student leader of the 1989 democracy movement who opposed the government (according to the recollections of many parties involved, Wang Dan was one of the most radical in the square, and he was the first to go on a hunger strike; he went abroad Later, he transformed himself into a representative of the "Plaza Moderates"). Do I need to say more? Such people are either liars, opportunists, or patients with schizophrenia.

Su Xiaokang also quoted Wang Dan as saying that he "admitted to Peking University with the highest score in the school". I seriously doubt this statement. Why? Common sense judgment: Anyone who can be admitted to Peking University with the first place in the school must be a child who is both smart and studious. And that kind of hardworking until the age of high school has become a habit and a kind of self-discipline, which will last for a long time. In other words, that kind of person will basically maintain a state of studious and hard work throughout his life.

As for Wang Dan, he was suspended in his first year of university because of the June Fourth Movement. Three months after he came to the United States, he went directly to Harvard to study for a master's degree without passing the exam. As a person whose English is not his mother tongue and who came to the United States only when he was nearly 30 years old, he must study hard to keep up with the courses and learn things. But as we saw earlier, Wang Dan started dressing up, chasing fashion brands within a few years after entering Harvard, and even went dancing and going to bars at night. How could he have any habit of being a "good student"? Some people may say that they have also completed their master's and doctoral degrees.

That's right, the degree is earned. But Wang Dan's homework at Harvard was basically helped by Nancy, an American woman who can speak fluent Chinese. That’s why, Wang Dan (with Taiwan’s official donations to Harvard to support him with more than 100,000 US dollars, no need to work at all) studied at Harvard for 10 years. Although he got a doctorate, he could not find a teaching position in the United Kingdom and the United States. That's why I came to Taiwan to teach "History of the People's Republic of China".

Wang Dan himself has said many times that he is lazy. This seems to be true. A 45-year-old middle-aged man, like a teenager, spends 5 hours a day on Facebook talking boring underage languages, plus going to bars, going to Starbucks for coffee, and inviting The student eats, and then runs around the suburbs (he showed off himself), etc. How does this look like a person who can be the first in the college entrance examination and has good study and study habits?

Therefore, I have every reason to question his statement that "admitted to Peking University with the highest score in the school". If this is true, it is easy to find evidence from classmates and teachers back then (no one will go to jail for this). Otherwise, it's just another big lie!

I tend to say that his "highest score" is a lie, and there is another basis: Wang Dan's master's thesis at Harvard was actually "Theoretical Sources and Contents of Mao Zedong's Yan'an Symposium on Literature and Art"! There are tens of thousands of Chinese students who have obtained degrees in the United States. Can you find a second one who uses Mao's speech as a thesis? Is there any theory in Mao's speech? I am afraid that even foreign students who are pro-Communist would have no face to write a paper on such a topic. Wang Dan once said on Facebook that when he was studying at Harvard, he was cared by Li Oufan, a Chinese professor in the East Asian Department. , talk about literature". The topics of his master's thesis were all discussed with Li Oufan, and it was hard not to let people feel that there might be Li Oufan's special care for Wang Dan if he passed the test.

Wang Dan's doctoral thesis is: "A Comparative Study of State Violence between Taiwan and Mainland China in the 1950s". He said in his autobiography that the first question asked by three American professors in his doctoral qualification oral examination was, "If you teach Chinese history in an American university, what is the first textbook you will use? Why? ?” Wang Dan said that the originator of East Asian studies at Harvard is John Fairbank, and I should be recognized if I bring him up as an old man. So I had an idea, and I used Fairbank's "New History of China" as the answer, and all three professors were satisfied. Wang Dan said that what followed was "all sorts of similar questions" before he passed the test. It seems that American professors gave Wang Dan all their sympathy for the Tiananmen victims. According to Wang Dan's self-report, after his doctoral thesis (with the help of Nancy) was submitted, he passed without defense. Wang Dan's "Doctor" was obtained.

I don't believe that those who graduated from Harvard through such a process will be the "first place in the college entrance examination" of the school.

However, Wang Dan was not at all humble enough to hold a high-profile celebration in both Boston and New York for the Ph.D. The celebration dinner was held in a hotel in New York. It was reported that nearly a hundred people attended. Many pro-democracy activists took turns to deliver speeches and congratulatory messages. Such a posture of self-expansion has never been seen since the era of Hu Shi, who had a Ph.D. in China!

I was thinking that it is quite a skill for any person to be praised by so many people in person at the same time without feeling like he is sitting on pins and needles. He wasn't even 40 at the time, which reminds me of a memorial service. When Liu Binyan was 80 years old, he felt a little uncomfortable when he heard that kind of talk.

There are countless Chinese students studying abroad in the United States, who have obtained real degrees, and may gather with relatives and friends to congratulate them. But let a group of "political public figures" sing praises to themselves? Never heard of it. This kind of thing only gives me a feeling: Wang Dan is so unconfident that he needs this kind of vanity to add light to himself.

In Wang Dan’s memoirs, only two pages are devoted to the process of his doctoral oral examination (the degree is so easy to obtain, there may be nothing to write about), but the above-mentioned doctoral degree celebration party is devoted to the above-mentioned doctoral degree celebration. All kinds of congratulatory letters, etc., are copied in full. Being so narcissistic, it's not surprising that sometimes you can't figure out whether you are true or false.

Fourth, schizophrenia?

In the article "Talking about Patriotism from Wang Dan's Refusal to Naturalize in the United States", I have already discussed several issues concerning Wang Dan's inconsistent personality. Interested readers can check it online. Here are a few more examples:

In 2000, Wang Dan attended Chen Shui-bian's presidential inauguration. But as soon as the ceremony was over, he was accompanied by Long Yingtai to a private meeting with Ma Ying-jeou. Ma Ying-jeou told Wang Dan that he was also a member of the Kuomintang when he was burned to ashes, and the talk was very tragic. Of course, when Wang Dan first arrived in Taiwan, he was accompanied by dark-green legislators of the Taiwan Federation of Nations and other people who have long been involved in the Taiwan independence movement.

In 2002, Wang Dan went to Taiwan. He had just visited Li Yingyuan, the Democratic Progressive Party’s candidate for Taipei mayor, and then met with Ma Ying-jeou, the KMT’s Taipei mayor. Then there was the scene where Chen Shui-bian was accompanied by dark green people and asked for funding. Then when he returned to the United States, Wang Dan immediately clarified to the media that some people accused him of being "very flat and inclined to support Taiwan independence", saying that some people "distorted him as 'very flat'" and he never supported Taiwan independence.

A while ago, Wang Dan wrote on Facebook: "A classmate from mainland China asked me: You support Lin Feifan, but Lin Feifan supports Taiwan independence, so you support Taiwan independence, right? I replied: If Lin Feifan doesn't like it, I must like it." , his army green coat, I think it's okay."

Some time ago someone asked him, "What do you think of the Diaoyu Islands issue?" Wang Dan replied, "I don't know how to fish."

He can have his own point of view, but for such a serious issue, he played with a smiley face and a cynical tone. I thought about it seriously, and I couldn't find a suitable word to describe it except a ruffian politician.

I have no objection to being friends with people on both sides and three sides (although I scold the leftists the most, but I have many leftist friends, friends who are unified, and even friends who are pro-communist), because opinions can be Communication, mutual influence, and viewpoints can also be changed. It's not terrible to have a muddy mind, just use the faucet of clear thinking to flush him. Each of us is constantly correcting ourselves to move forward. but--

If a person has always been like this for many years, front and back, left and right, and the color of his face changes when he turns—blue, green and red, and he can apply whichever he needs (whichever is good for him) on his face... Who can see his face? What is in the skin?

Fifth, a vain showman?

I remember reading in a book reminiscing about June Fourth in the late 1990s (because I read more than ten books at the time, and I couldn’t remember which one was in it for a while), Wang Dan just liked to put on a show, chase the limelight, and hold press conferences. He declined to attend if no foreign journalists were present.

Wang Youcai, secretary-general of the Beijing Higher Education Federation during the 1989 pro-democracy movement, said, "Wang Dan was very good at putting on a show, and everyone knew it, so he was pushed out. But he was very good at dealing with the media, which many people can't handle him. .”

Feng Congde also wrote: "Wang Dan likes to put on a show, and it has been like this since 1989. Things are done by others, and declarations are written by others. Wang Dan stands in front of reporters without shame and takes it as his own. This is often the case. Therefore, he is called The student movement organization was marginalized, so he ignored the unanimous opposition of the student movement organization and launched the so-called 'personal hunger strike', which got out of hand."

People who love to put on a show have inertia. In the past few years, I can't remember how many times I saw Wang Danlian's name and made that statement. Just haven't seen anything done as claimed in their statement. The most typical can be described as "the world besieged city".

Since the middle of last year (2013), Wang Dan was also the leader, and issued a very high-profile "summoning order" in the media, saying that "the world besieged the city" to commemorate the 25th anniversary of June 4th. The general spokesperson is Wang Dan again. Thunder shouted loudly, and the news spread all over the Chinese media. Then, in the name of "commemorating June 4th", he raised funds for the so-called "city under siege". Wang Dan also posted the US fundraising account on his Facebook. The results of it? As a result, there was no rain at all! Where did the "siege" go in the end? Except for "feeding" the names of Wang Dan and others to the media, they did not do anything practical. Where did the money raised go?

When Wang Dan put forward the proposal of "besieging the city", some people in the pro-democracy circle opposed it, thinking that it was impossible to do so, and it was too much of a show to shout so loudly. But Wang Dan insisted on doing it. Wang Youcai, who knew the whole process of launching, said, "If you dare to do a show like 'The World Besieged', why not?"

No wonder they nonchalantly staged another fake show of "fighting for the Nobel Peace Prize for Occupy Hong Kong people" this time. I have already written about its release process in the article "Wang Dan's joint letter, making a show to win the Nobel Prize". It is Wang Dan and other such "joint professional households" who put on a show again and again without doing anything, making the overseas democracy movement a joke, and making no one take it seriously.

In fact, the point I reserved above is that among the 15 co-signers who "strive for the Nobel Peace Prize for Occupy Hong Kong People", about half of them are all in a small group with interests. Every time Wang Dan co-signs, there are always those few people. Showing off is not their whole purpose. By putting on a show and promoting them through the media, it is to promote them as representatives of the overseas democracy movement and seek the interests behind them.

It is not enough for Wang Dan to participate in the "group show", and his own "one-man show" must continue to play in order to maintain media exposure and "idol status". For example, in May of this year, there were a lot of media reports saying that the CCP spread rumors, "The real Wang Dan died before the June 4 incident, and the Wang Dan who lives in Taiwan is a fake." At that time, I reported this obvious to the media. Disapprove of the fake news stuff. Back then, the CCP formally sent Wang Dan abroad under the pretext of medical parole. How could it be possible to make such a childish joke now?

Later, during Wang Dan's "brain tumor incident", because of an interview with "Times Weekly", I went to scan Wang Dan's Facebook and found out that the source of this news was Wang Dan himself, and his basis was "netizen revelations." He also said that the CCP is "too creative this time! The CCP has made progress." Not to mention that the "netizens broke the news" itself is questionable, if it is true, why is it done by the CCP? Such a low-level self-promotion can also be done.

The brain tumor incident will not be mentioned. It can become a "Wang Dan classic". But after a quick glance at his Facebook, it turns out that his greatest interest is self-cultivation of idols—while posting a few shallow political slogans, he wants to use what I eat, drink, wear, and do. , to attract attention. Just as a female reader commented on my Facebook page, Wang Dan wrote some boring trivia in the tone of an 18-year-old Taiwanese girl on Facebook... It disgusts me..." Another male reader said, "Wang Dan's boring comments It’s still those things on Facebook...sometimes the childishness makes me blush when I read it. It’s nothing for him to write these things at the age of 18, but what has he been doing these past few years...” It seems that Wang Dan is only 18 years old. Consensus.

Wang Dan also posted pictures of himself from time to time, telling everyone that he is handsome, and when he couldn't wait, he said it himself. I remember reading in Liu Xiaobo's "Monologue of a Doomsday Survivor" that Wuer Kaixi liked to ask reporters, "Do Hong Kong girls like me?" "What do American girls think of me?" That was 25 years ago, Wuer Kaixi Kaixi is 21 years old. Today, Wang Dan is a 45-year-old middle-aged man who spends his days imitating the language of underage girls. So handsome, this is not "show off", but 38.

I saw a report on FoxNews in the United States before. There is a singer named Lady Gaga, who is more popular in the world than Obama, who was blown into the universe by the leftist media. Does she rely on singing and dancing well? of course not. She relies on taking off, playing, relying on fancy clothes, and dressing up by ghosts. Wang Dan seems to want to become a political star in the way of Gaga.

Not to mention the whole of Taiwan, but the whole of China, the whole world, can you find a professor who spends 5 hours a day (Wang Dan himself said) so boring on Facebook? Can those "underage" actions and language be associated with the word "professor"? Is it true that he can't make any academic achievements, and can only rely on "showing off", "making news by himself", relying on Lady Gaga to boost popularity and create his own idol?

It suddenly occurred to me that this might not necessarily be March 8. After the brain tumor incident attracted a lot of criticism, Wang Dan deleted all the posts during that period, except for those who said he was "handsome". I'm a little worried for the little boy fans in Taiwan. This is not a joke, nor is it aimlessly——

According to reliable sources, when Wang Dan was studying at Harvard, his American neighbors reported that Wang Dan dated too many boys. If he improperly contacts underage boys, he will commit a crime and needs to be disciplined by his elders. At Tsinghua University in Taiwan, people also realized that there were always a bunch of young boys around him. The school teachers thought that Wang Dan needed a group of boys to protect him for safety reasons. This is probably not the case.

What happened to Wang Dan is not just his own private matter, because he is a high-profile public figure active in the political field. This is like Ma Ying-jeou and Jin Pucong. The public has every right to question their sexual orientation, because if they are a couple, they will not only deceive their family and society, but also have the possibility of "using love for personal gain". For example, with what ability and achievements did Jin Pucong gain so much power all the way in Taiwan?

Wang Dan's question has been raised bluntly by some people in the pro-democracy circle. He refused to answer the June 4th comrades-in-arms' accusation that he was suspected of embezzling multiple pro-democracy donations. So is there a problem of "mistresses" in overseas pro-democracy movements? Regardless of whether the lover is a man or a woman, the nature is the same.

Seeing that I was advertising my article, someone provided information saying that Wang Dan recommended his three favorite books, one is about men’s sexual desire: "Spirit Mountain", and the other is about lesbian lust: "Mongolia" Matt's Suicide Note", one is about the emperor's life: "My Emperor's Life". "This kind of person teaches in Taiwan? What does he teach? Have fun and be the emperor?"

Ha - that's not the case. Wang Dan is quite accomplished. At least, his writing achievements surpass Han Han. It has been 16 years since I went abroad in 1998. Apart from finishing my Ph.D. at Harvard, I spend 5 hours a day on Facebook, acting like a baby, posing with children, saying that I am handsome, what restaurant I eat at, and what cafe I drink at. In addition, besides going to bars hundreds or thousands of times, and teaching at a university, Wang Dan has published at least 27 books. Nearly one and a half times a year. A whole superman!

Those who just set up monuments and biographies for themselves include: "Wang Dan's Memoirs in Prison", "Wang Dan's Family Letters in Prison", "Wang Dan's Viewpoints", "Wang Dan's Memoirs-From June Fourth to Exile", "My Youthful Years ", "My Days at Harvard", "The Age of Idealism--My Political Trajectory". Moreover, his scribbles on Facebook have all been published in the book "Wang Dan's Facebook"...

God, he really made himself a "great man"! I haven't seen the second "democracy great man" (any great man), wrote so much about the history of "me, me, me", and moved so many "own names" as the title of the book. The "great" Hitler almost conquered the whole of Europe, and he just wrote "Mein Kampf"!

Churchill won World War II and is the most well-written and prolific figure among contemporary politicians. He wrote more than 40 books in his life and won the Nobel Prize for Literature (not the Peace Prize). Although there are a few books about his own experience, But none of them are named after himself (that shocked the world)!

But China's great Wang Dan—is he 80 years old? Still 90? Or won World War 4?

Seeing the pile of "works" in the sky on Wang Dan's resume, I thought of Feng Congde's "June 4 Archives (June 4 memo)". Feng Congde lowered his head to do the work of "digging the ground": excavating the sweat, blood and tears that flowed on the land in 89.64, looking for and recording the footprints left by people. And Wang Dan is looking up to chase the kite in his hand, to see how high his image can fly.

Feng Congde said something that moved me very much. He said, "These things (June 4th memo) can be seen a hundred years later." For more than 20 years, what he has been doing carefully, meticulously, and silently is sorting out the history of the 1989 democracy movement and thinking about contributing to the People who will be in charge a hundred years later. This kind of person doesn't have the mind and energy to compete with people like Wang Dan for the limelight. But Wang Dan (has the guts) to compare himself to an angel and others to a devil. It's a little bit out of order. Therefore, I have to write this article even if it is just to fight this kind of injustice.

In my eyes, the "actions" of Wang Dan's chasing wind are counteracting the efforts of those who work silently. But in the end, what was engraved on the milestones of history was the "June 4th Archives" that dripped blood quietly, not Wang Dan's Facebook flirting, show-offs, declarations, and piles of——

"Wang Dan...", "Wang Dan...", "Wang Dan...", "Wang Dan...", "Wang Dan...", "Wang Dan..."...

Of course, Wang Dan made his contribution to the violent Tiananmen Movement, and he also paid the price of being in prison. However, because he was just 20 years old, he became famous due to an unexpected incident, and he did not have enough preparation for ideological and personality growth; and after he came overseas, people were based on their anger at the Tiananmen Square massacre and the June 4th suffering. The great sympathy of the audience gave Wang Dan almost "three thousand favorites in one body" kind treatment. But because of the lack of due supervision, and even the tendency of the media to kill him, he became more and more self-inflated. Frankly speaking, so far, I really can't find a second one who reaches Wang Dan's level in the five aspects of "selling friends and begging for mercy, being corrupt and vulgar, habitually lying, split personality, and showing off vanity". If everyone keeps quiet and allows him to play fake shows again and again on behalf of the overseas democracy movement, it will ultimately damage the cause of democracy that countless people have devoted their lives and efforts to.

Cao Changqing: Wang Dan needs to publicly apologize to Chen Ziming and others

Chen Ziming passed away. Publicly apologized for Chen Ziming's false accusation without seeing Wang Dan. In the book "Chen Ziming Reflects on Ten Years of Reform", there are several passages that mention Wang Dan in this way:

"Wang Dan has testified hundreds of thousands of words for nearly 500 people, and the three testimonies he gave to me happened to be misremembered";

"A large number of facts prove that several of Wang Dan's testimonies are against his will";

"Resolutely demand to confront the main witness Wang Dan face to face", "Let him wash away a major stain that may remain in history."

Whether Chen Ziming forgave Wang Dan like Wang Juntao did is a matter between them. However, in law, if it is a criminal, even if the victim forgives, it does not mean that the court will no longer try. The same is true in morality: Even if the victim forgives, the flaw cannot be erased; only by publicly admitting the mistake can the flaw be made up.

For example, Polish film director Polanski was suspected of raping a girl in Los Angeles in 1977 and has been wanted by the US police for many years. A few years ago, his film "The Pianist" won an Oscar, but he did not dare to come to the United States to receive the award for fear of being arrested. Although the girl (now middle-aged) had already given a speech and forgave him, the law is another matter. Otherwise, for a murderer, as long as the victim's family forgives, he can escape legal punishment.

Of course, Wang Dan neither murdered nor raped. He caused others to be victimized because of his accusation. As for moral issues, since the victim understands, why is it not enough? Because only by making a public apology can you show your denial of that wrong practice, and you can redeem that crime of conscience just like a rapist is punished in prison. Of course, if it is "perjury" that hurts others, it is not just a moral issue.

Liu Gang, a June 4th student leader who was also imprisoned in Qincheng Prison, wrote: "Wang Dan wrote a 130,000-word confession in Qincheng Prison. Most of the verdicts of our June 4th personnel use Wang Dan's testimony. He urged Wang Dan to retract his confession in prison, but Wang Dan's response was: 'If what I said is true, there is no need to retract the confession. If it is not true, it will not cause harm to other people.'”

The problem with Wang Dan's words is too serious. First, if you "truly" betrayed your comrades to the authorities, or confessed to those who protected you, of course it is obviously a moral issue. Wang Dan thinks there is no need to retract the confession, which shows that he does not know what morality is. Second, who said that an untrue confession must not cause harm to others? Wang Dan said that all his actions in Tiananmen Square were under the command of Wang Juntao, which is obviously not true. If Wang Juntao was given a heavy sentence because of this, and he was prosecuted, wouldn't that be a crime of perjury? Both before and after can of course cause harm to others.

After my article criticizing Wang Dan was published, I received some letters. One of the Tiananmen students said that he heard that Wang Dan had betrayed a soldier who had protected him. So I searched online and saw this text signed by Cindy in 2010:

Wang Dan betrayed many people who had protected him in prison. He turned a blind eye to these people afterwards and did not make any apologies. He didn't even admit that he had betrayed someone in prison.... I know of two people who were betrayed by him in this way: Wang Dan fled to Nanjing. He went to Nanjing Military Academy to find his friend, who happened to be away from Nanjing that day. His friends and hostels received him. This person is a graduate student, and his family is from the countryside. The man invited Wang to a small self-employed restaurant for dinner. After taking Wang in for a few days, the small owner of the restaurant helped him to send him out of Nanjing safely. This person is the key training object of this university. The school thinks he is very smart and has a bright future. When the school received the notice and learned that Wang had betrayed him and the small restaurant owner to the Beijing Public Security Bureau, many teachers and students in the school were very sad. At that time, the school just suspended his classes and restricted him from leaving the school, but did not arrest him. reprocessing. Many teachers and students worry that he will be court-martialed (he is a soldier, and the police have no right to arrest him). He and the small owner of the restaurant were strangers to Wang and acted bravely. Their ending was much worse than Wang's, and now they don't know whether they are dead or alive.

I have not been able to verify the content of the above text. If it is a fabrication, please ask Wang Dan to come out and clarify. I tend to believe that it is based on Chen Ziming's words, plus what I have learned about Wang Dan's other practices. This is the usual inference of the case.

Let’s look at this example again: Kong Shiren, a Chinese dissident currently in Taiwan, said, “I arranged for Gao Yu to come to Taiwan to watch the election a few years ago. Gao Yu personally said that after June Fourth, Wang Dan betrayed her, and even gave her private speech to the CCP. Chen Ziming wrote It is not an isolated evidence." Isn't this "true" confession a problem?

Another person who was confessed by Wang Dan was Zhang Xianyang, a liberal scholar. After the June 4 massacre, People's Daily published a critical article titled "Fang Lizhi and Zhang Xianyang and his like have long proposed to cause 'turmoil'", which quoted Zhang Xianyang's private conversation with Wang Dan. The article said, "Let us listen to what an 'elite' figure named Zhang Xianyang said to Wang Dan, who later became the head of the 'Gaozi Federation' on February 15 this year." Zhang Xianyang told Wang Dan's betrayal was dissatisfying.

Wang Dan later explained in his autobiography that the authorities saw it from his diary. But judging from Wang Dan's betrayal of his friend Wang Juntao and Chen Ziming, I question Wang Dan's statement because:

Wang Juntao's lawyer Zhang Sizhi wrote in his new book "Thinking of the Walker": The testimony of a leader of the student movement is very disgraceful. All actions are under Wang Juntao's command", "Wang Juntao is my abettor".

Surely such words could not have been written in the diary, could they? If Wang Dan could easily betray (with lies) to two of his closest friends, wouldn't it be even more acceptable to tell the "truth" to Zhang Xianyang?

Lawyer Zhang Sizhi traveled to Denmark and Germany last month, and his friend asked him to read my "Wang Dan with Five Faults" on his mobile phone. He confirmed with certainty that Wang Dan is indeed a problem!

Wang Youcai, secretary-general of the "Northern High School Federation" who was imprisoned in Qincheng Prison, said, "Everyone who lived in Qincheng (prison) at that time knew what Wang Dan explained. Educate us, let us also explain."

Liu Gang also wrote: "When Wang Dan was in Qincheng Prison, he was set up by the Communist Party as a model of reform. He knelt down and begged for mercy, defected and defected to the enemy. Everyone who was imprisoned in Qincheng Prison has read a material issued by the prison (Wang Dan's 13 4D Reflection Confession Materials).”

So, in this confession, who else, and how many people, were betrayed or accused by Wang Dan?

Zhang Xianyang passed away last year, and Chen Ziming is also gone now. Even if Wang Dan wanted to apologize publicly to them, he would never have the chance. But Gao Yu is still there, the Nanjing soldier and restaurant owner (probably) are still there, and other people who may have been accused of corruption are still there. Even if everyone is dead, does Wang Dan need to make a public apology for his actions?

There are two situations of weakness in the face of power: one is to write a review and criticize yourself severely in order to get a lighter sentence. Take the example of Liu Xiaobo. But he did not betray others. Although it is also a flaw for the hero, it is not a serious problem (it is another problem to testify on CCTV that he did not see the murder in Tiananmen Square). Even if everyone knows that he has repented with the authorities and is weak, he cannot be asked to come out and confess publicly, just because he did not hurt others. But he did it and wrote a book of confession, because he clearly knew that he was wrong, and he wanted to use the form of public repentance to deny that mistake and at the same time restore his own image.

The second situation in the face of power and weakness is that of Wang Dan: betraying comrades. In such a situation, Wang Dan should publicly repent and apologize even if no one asks for it. Obviously, he hurt others. People have the right to demand a public apology from him.

Of course, Wang Dan can never apologize. Anyway, if he does not repent, he will not violate the laws of any country. But if that's the case, I advise him to become an American citizen as soon as possible, and don't bother to get an ID card every once in a while, because it's really no use going back to China to work in politics. People absolutely have moral requirements for politicians. Without taking the points won by the "patriotic feat" of foreign nationality, I am afraid that it will not be able to offset the negative numbers brought about by the above-mentioned behaviors.

Secondly, he retired from the overseas democracy movement and no longer played the role of a public figure. Because of such a serious moral problem, it is really difficult to stand up to the moral aura of "June 4 idols". Then use this halo to represent the democracy movement to issue statements, raise funds, make high-profile shows, etc., I am afraid it will be difficult to get rid of "criticism".

Of course, all this can be changed if Wang Dan apologizes for his mistakes. Chinese people are very smart, but there is one thing that they are completely ignorant of, that is, they don't understand the huge energy in people's hearts that is especially willing and willing to tolerate other people's mistakes. But the premise is that you must admit your mistake. If you don’t believe me, go home and bow your head to your husband or wife, parents or children for a mistake (no matter how serious), sincerely admit your mistake, and apologize. See what happens. Get your handkerchief ready!

Wang Juntao protects the emperor but is heroic Wang Dan begs for mercy and frames - Zhang Sizhi's new book reveals the inside story

"Asia Weekly" Jiang Xun

...... In early June, "Walker Thinking" was released in Hong Kong by Oxford University Press, which for the first time disclosed some truths before and after the " June 4th Incident". The author is Zhang Sizhi, a barrister in Beijing.

Zhang Sizhi claimed that the Wang Juntao case was his first political case (the "two cases" of Lin Biao and Jiang Qing cannot be counted). ┅┅Regarding the case of Wang Juntao, Zhang Sizhi said that the testimony of a leader of the student movement was disgraceful. He checked the file, paying special attention to what several major student movement leaders had provided to the prosecution. Unexpectedly, one of the confessions was slavish, and the statement was shocking: "All my actions in Tiananmen Square and all my actions in the headquarters are under the command of Wang Juntao", "Wang Juntao is my abettor." For a long time, Zhang Sizhi didn't understand this person very much. Later, someone asked Zhang Sizhi to defend him, but Zhang Sizhi refused without hesitation. He believes that after sitting in the prison of the Communist Party , he can't stand it. He not only understands, but also forgives when he explains the problem. We must allow human nature to have weaknesses. The key is not to pull other people's backs, let alone harm others, that is betrayal, not to mention that you are a "vicious attack", you pretend to be a leader, and lead the "academic circle", how can you be "instigated" by others? What is an abettor? The authorities can't accuse him of this crime. Zhang Sizhi said, "Now there is no need to name the leader. He is young and still needs to do things. We should give him some leeway. As for whether to reflect on himself, that is his business."

Zhang Sizhi said that you can see the difference when you compare. In the transcript of the interrogation, Wang Juntao told the police: "You have asked me dozens of times about other people. Let me tell you clearly that this is the last time I will talk about this issue today, and I will not talk about it in the future. I can say The point is: for any issues involving other people, the other party’s statement shall prevail, and I shall bear the responsibility, so you don’t need to ask me any more.” Zhang Sizhi said, who has seen such a testimony? Loud and aboveboard! What a difference in personality.

Before Zhang Sizhi agreed to defend Wang Juntao, he did not know Wang Juntao. Zhang Sizhi knew about the 1980 college student campaign in Beijing , but he didn't know that Wang Juntao was an active campaigner. It was only later that he learned of Wang Juntao's weight and influence in the academic and intellectual circles. He was shocked and lamented his ignorance. Through meetings and contacts, Zhang Sizhi got to know Wang Juntao better and formed an important point of view: the reason why Wang Juntao went to Tiananmen Square was to carry out the tasks assigned by the party organization of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, to persuade the students to leave, and to prepare conditions for welcoming Gorbachev’s visit to China , but failed to complete, and became Yan Mingfu's scapegoat. Helping the party organization to carry out its tasks turned into a sinner. This is black and white.

As for Wang Juntao's political stance, Zhang Sizhi's overall impression is that he is a "royalist". The same is true for Chen Ziming, who is a royalist at heart. Zhang Sizhi said that he couldn't figure it out. Isn't it absurd for a regime that takes " revolution " as its banner to sentence a royalist as a counter-revolutionary?

Zhang Sizhi believes that when Wang Juntao is classified as a royalist, first, his basic point of view is to maintain the regime and strengthen the administrative authority of those in power, which can be seen in his thesis. Zhang Sizhi said in his defense, "Wang (Juntao) supported Deng (Xiaoping) for ten years," and he agreed. Bao Zunxin's "V. The 17th Manifesto, Wang Juntao refused to sign because it contained anti-Deng Xiaoping words. Second, at that historical stage, their main activity was to conduct social surveys, combine reality, and theoretically explain what should be reformed and how to reform. The starting point is also to maintain and improve the current regime. They chose two points, one is the economically developed special zone, Shekou; the other is the backward area, Yan'an. The Shekou investigation has ended, and the investigation report fully affirms the Shekou model. The investigation in Yan'an has also been completed, and the investigation report is being discussed after returning to Beijing to provide reference for the administration. For this reason, they decided not to get involved in the student movement and not to go to Tiananmen Square. They had a prediction at the time that as long as they intervened, they would definitely be labeled as "black hands". This judgment is really prescient. Therefore, they devoted themselves to holding meetings every day to draw conclusions, trying to complete the investigation report as soon as possible, and did not get involved in the student movement.

Zhang Sizhi said that the former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev visited China on May 15, and a welcome ceremony would be held in the square. But the students have no intention of "withdrawing". The United Front Work Department held a meeting to study, but no one could do anything about it. Zheng Yefu, a young sociologist at the time and now a professor at Peking University , said that Wang Juntao had prestige among the students, so now he has to be invited out. Minister Yan Mingfu immediately said, go and invite her. Therefore, Zheng Yefu was ordered to find Wang Juntao and said that the peace between the two parties of China and the Soviet Union is related to the overall world structure. Wang Juntao agreed, and then went to Tiananmen Square.

Wang Juntao's position is to safeguard the country

Zhang Sizhi said that he did not mean to overthrow the regime and split the country, on the contrary, he wanted to maintain his position. Judging from Wang Juntao's series of words and deeds, no matter whether he participated in the 1980 Beijing University Student Election, or later promoted the reform of the political system, his views were only somewhat advanced, and they never went beyond the scope allowed by the CCP. He has been sentenced to thirteen years in the first instance, and he also took out an article published in "National Conditions Research" entitled " China Needs Administrative Authority Now", and asked me to submit it to the second-instance court as evidence. This is an ironclad proof of "royalist". That's why I say that the whole trial is very absurd from the beginning to the end: hating iron but not steel is also a sin and a sin.

Wang Juntao case, two counts, five "crimes". On the day of the trial, the prosecution accused four of the so-called "subversion" crimes and one of the so-called "counter-revolutionary propaganda and incitement" crimes. Zhang Sizhi said: "From the beginning to the end of the trial investigation, no witnesses were dared to appear in court. The testimonies of Chen Ziming, Zhou Duo, Liu Gang and others, as well as the several written testimonies we submitted, are all in favor of Wang Juntao. His defense was 7,000 words long, and the basic point can be summed up in one sentence: "The indictment intends to accuse Wang Juntao of being the mastermind and 'black hand' of the 'April Beijing riot', but none of them convincingly cites reliable evidence."

You argue your case and I judge mine

Zhang Sizhi said in the book: "Afterwards, I sum up the characteristics of this defense, and I think the main thing is: the whole article makes a detailed analysis of the facts in the case, and completely refute all the allegations one by one. However, you argue yours and I judge mine. This situation has become a common practice. The debate is over, Wang Juntao's final statement is over, and the presiding judge announces an adjournment for deliberation. The verdict will be read out in 65 minutes. How can such a lengthy judgment be made within an hour? You can't even go through the motions Pass. We put forward so many evidences, but we ignored them all. We said so many credible reasons, but none of them were reflected in the judgment. In the future, writing the history of Chinese trials should leave a mark on your practice. .” The verdict of the second instance came down, and there was no suspense: the original verdict was upheld.

The book "Thinking of the Walker" was dictated by Zhang Sizhi and compiled by Sun Guodong. ... Sun Guodong believes that after the " June 4th Incident ", Zhang Sizhi defended political prisoners such as Bao Tong, Wei Jingsheng , and Wang Juntao. His whole life is a living history of the rule of law of the People's Republic of China, and his unremitting struggle is a portrayal of the personality of a generation of lawyers and intellectuals. ┅┅
