Three days until the end of the snapshot period

The first snapshot, which determines your maximum eligible stake, has a block height of 1,750,000 — January 15th at 14:55 UTC.

As we approach the end of the snapshot period on January 28th, we recommend that you take your last snapshot anytime on the 28th, which means that any time in any time zone around the world is the 28th. We won't publish the exact time the snapshot took place as this could lead to sniping.

The last snapshot will determine each validator's delegation for rarity distribution.

First, bad news. Orbem Wars is scheduled to be released in open alpha at the end of this month. However, two of the core contributors have been struggling and one is still recovering. As excited as we are, the health of the team definitely takes precedence over everything else. Since we are a small team, this affects our schedule.

Over the past 3 weeks, some details about the release have been revealed in Discord's community call. We wanted to share these details (and some alpha versions) in writing for everyone to read.

Orbem Wars will have a 5-step release schedule. We take these steps to ensure we get the right game balance. The statistics of NFTs cannot be changed after minting, so there are certain challenges compared to "traditional" games.

Phase 1 - Open Alpha - Expected in February

This test will familiarize you with Orbem Wars. In this alpha state, some graphics, sounds, effects and game options will be unavailable or intentionally removed for testing purposes. At this stage, there will not be any NFTs, as these items are created virtually for testing purposes only.

Goal : Test the balance between turret and map difficulty, general game mechanics, and server load.

Reasons to join : 1) First Sight, 2) First chance to get information, start planning your domination of Ehen (Knowledge = Power), 3) Help Orbem Wars be the best it can be.

Data Wipe : Yes

Phase 2 - Public Beta - Expected in March

After tweaking and implementing/reactivating various graphics, sound, effects and game options, we will open a public beta test. The test will include NFTs. We will be testing loot mechanics and algorithms, reward distribution for in-game events, and working on further balance testing and improvements.

Goal : Test NFT functionality, algorithms, balance and untested game modes. Further server load testing.

Reasons to join : 1) stats may be close to the final stats so you can start planning your game strategy, 2) first chance to see all early game modes, 3) help Orbem Wars be the best.

Data Wipe : Yes

Phase 3 - Early Access - Expected March/April

Launched Orbem Wars as a product on mainnet. From this stage, all NFTs you find are yours. Stashh integration is expected to be completed shortly to enable NFT transactions.

In Early Access, we'll be rolling out a limited number of turrets and modifications we've tested in Alpha and Beta. PVP and story events will be temporarily locked.

Objective : Initiate Orbem Wars

Why you should join : Early birds will experience a relatively high NFT drop rate.

Data Wipe : No - from now on, you can keep your loot.

Phase 4 - Ecosystem Expansion

As we gain more data from player activity, we can make final adjustments to turrets and mods that haven't been introduced yet. During the expansion phase, we will introduce new turrets, new mods, and finally the introduction of tank NFTs, as well as special vehicle mods in preparation for PVP mode.

Phase 5 - Game Update

In fact, Phase 5 is a never-ending phase that may see various codenames for specific features. Some of the updates we expect to release in the first quarter of post-launch:

  • The release of the PVP league,
  • The beginning of an immersive multiplayer storyline,
  • Introduce the tech tree, and
  • The universe expanded from one constellation to many.

The tech tree will be the last frontier where players will be able to compete. The tech tree is not designed to break the game, but to change it, allowing you to set up a team of researchers to study the materials and parts you find on the battlefield.

Using destructive physics analysis, your researchers will attempt to improve their technical understanding of alloys and armor, energy systems, and weapon technology to give you an edge in combat.

The rarer the parts and materials, the faster your researchers can make progress. Heck, some reckless mercenaries might even sacrifice fully functional equipment to speed up their research.
