Klaus: The Secret of Christmas (Klaus)
A while ago, in the bombardment of the Christmas atmosphere, I found a Christmas-themed movie to watch on a whim. To be honest, I didn't google what the movie was talking about before watching it, and subconsciously thought it was just another cartoon for children.
As you can imagine, I was very wrong.
Movie: Klaus: Christmas Secret (Klaus) Premiere time: 2019/11/8 Director: Sergio Pablos
If I had to say, I wouldn't classify this cartoon as a Christmas movie for children, but I think it's perfect for adults who no longer believe in magic. It's a bit far-fetched and incomplete in some places, but overall I really like the movie, it strikes a great balance between reality and magical fantasy.
plot outline
Actor Jesper's father is the postmaster general. But his father, who couldn't bear it, decided to assign him to a deserted town (Smeerensburg) as a postman, and made a contract with him. If he can deliver 6,000 letters in the town, he can come back and continue his original life. . It is conceivable that this town is not ordinary. It is shrouded in the feud between the two families. The people in the town are divided into two factions headed by the family and do not communicate with each other (so there is no need to talk about writing and sending letters). While trying to convince residents to write letters, Jesper stumbles across an isolated residence, the home of Klaus, a reclusive toy maker. From here the story begins...
The cynical Jesper, the Eva who once had the dream of a teacher, the Klaus who seems to have a secret and mysterious relationship, the feud between the two families, how this developed into a story related to Santa Claus, I couldn't imagine it until I watched the movie. I also leave it to you to enjoy the process full of surprises :)
What I like about the movie
- Woody animation: I don't know if it makes sense, because I invented the word woodiness five seconds ago. First let me state that I don't have any background in drawing/animation at all, so I'm just starting from the point of view of an ignorant audience. The overall painting feeling of this animation gives me a different feeling. When I watch it, I often feel that if these characters are carved out of wood, and then I cast a magic to make them move, it will probably look like this! I think the overall tone and characters just give me a very warm and warm feeling.
- Unexpected Christmas Secret: I don't mean the ending is a U-turn. Ever since Jesper met Klaus and the story started, I've been baptized with surprises of all kinds. It's not that the plot is full of twists and turns like a full-scale start, but the director has skillfully combined the deeply rooted characteristics of various Santa Clauses with the plot and adapted it into a very human version :) From doing good deeds From getting gifts, throwing them from the chimney, Santa’s preference for milk and cookies, and even the origin of the elk sleigh, the reasons behind each made me smile. Adds some realism to the story of the magical Santa Claus. (Those who have seen it, say you are right!)
- Give us a version that we can believe when we grow up: I can't help but think when I watch it, since when did I start to believe that there is a Santa Claus in the world? Maybe it's because I'm sensible, grown up, and have all kinds of There are many such experiences, or you are so excited that you can't sleep on Christmas Eve in a certain year and you accidentally see the real appearance of Santa Claus. No matter what the reason is, stories that are too beautiful and too dreamy seem so unbelievable to us when we grow up. That's why I said at first, this is a Christmas movie that I would recommend to us growing up. If it were this version of the story, I might be willing to believe that magic is not so far away from the real world.
What I don't enjoy so much
- The small town feud is a bit far-fetched: although I also feel that cartoons don’t seem to need to be as choosy as watching a Christopher Nolan movie, this setting has always puzzled me while watching it. . It feels like a plot created to make something for Jesper to tinker with. However, it is not serious enough to affect the mood of watching, just my own little turtle.
My favorite characters
Basically every character in this movie is very lovable, but I was electrocuted by two of the non-protagonist characters, so cute!!!
They are the little girls who stabbed the radish
and the little Sami girl
Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah is really cute !!!!!!! Some people who have seen it have the same feelings haha haha
My favorite quote
"The true act of goodwill always sparks another." A truly selfless act always inspires good deeds in others.
This quote runs throughout the film and makes a good summary. The selfless deeds of each character's mishaps have created the warmth and beauty of the whole movie. If you're someone who doesn't really like magic, mythology, and human nature type stories, then I don't recommend you watch this movie. Although like I said earlier, this movie brings some realism to the magical Santa Claus, but it's still a magical movie. It provides a believable version of us growing up. In the end, it's all about what you believe in. I believe in wonders, and I hope you do too :)
The film is available to watch on Netflix, with a link to the trailer for your reference:
