About Scars - Scars of Pride, I got EMT-1! (Junior Ambulance Technician)
Before the article begins, Lazy Sheng will help you to order songs first.
At the beginning of October this year, I signed up for the training of EMT-1 primary first aid ambulanceman. After a total of 40 hours of intensive training,
I kneel to press CPR, I kneel to AED, I kneel for cervical restraint, I kneel to prepare to carry the injured,
I knelt, I knelt, I knelt, in addition to getting the license, my knees were honorable, and I knelt down to my knees and broke the skin .
↓Not much nonsense, let’s go to the first one, the proud EMT-1 certificate.
Where do pride scars come from?
What is an EMT (emergency responder) and what are the classifications?
EMT, Emergency medical technician , Chinese for "emergency medical ambulance" , "emergency ambulance", "emergency technician". EMT is responsible for the assessment, first aid, treatment and initial treatment of the injured before they arrive at the hospital .
(In simple terms, the people who are often seen in ambulances, and there are people in the fire brigade who deal with first aid-related matters, that is, EMT.)
In Taiwan, according to the "Emergency Rescue Measures", EMT can be divided into three levels, namely EMT-1 , EMT-2 , and EMTP (as shown in the figure below). For example: EMT-1 can perform CPR, AED, giving oxygen, wake-up ball, etc., but cannot measure blood sugar, perform intubation, etc., EMT-2 can perform intubation, measure blood sugar), every level of ambulance, there are The specific hours of training qualifications, the number of hours for further study when changing licenses, and the need to pass the written test and the practical test of the technical subject are all required.
Among them, the most basic and most basic is EMT-1 (junior first aid ambulance). The training time for junior ambulancemen is not long, 40 hours, five full days to complete the training, and finally pass the written test and practical test. Then you can get the EMT-1 certificate ( both of which must be 70 points or more to pass, the full score is 100% , I saw some old information on the Internet that some units only need 60 points for the written test, but my training unit requirements are Both the written test and the practical test are 70 points).
In fact, the instructors of the training institution (EMPT) said that the training time of EMT-1 is not long, and the main purpose is to have the function of promotion , so that people can learn the most basic emergency rescue and emergency life-saving techniques ( Contains Hamlich, CPR, AED, hemostatic bandage, immobilization).
The cost of signing up for training varies slightly depending on the unit, but usually falls between 6,000-7,000 yuan (Taiwan dollars). At that time, I paid 6,500 yuan to go to the "Taiwan Sports Safety and First Aid Skills Promotion Association" for training.
Why do pride scars appear?
What's on the EMT-1 training course? How can I get myself scarred?
If you just want to blow air conditioners and eat lunch boxes, and think that listening to speeches will use your brain, you can get this license.
That's really overthinking it.
The 40-hour training process is very solid and rich. Usually, the first half an hour to an hour explains the relevant theory, and then a group of 2-3 people starts to practice.
The physical training range of EMT-1 includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR, AED), foreign body infarction management, assessment of trauma/non-trauma patients, stroke possibility assessment, burn area assessment and management, hemostasis, oxygen therapy, immobilization surgery and restraint surgery (there are a lot of different immobilization techniques to practice), transporting the injured, getting out of the car, interpreting critically ill patients, triaging a large number of injured patients (use of injury ticket cards), general understanding of human body structure, and understanding of relevant laws and regulations familiar.
During the training process, in addition to remembering a lot of things (really a lot),
The steps of the actual operation must be memorized and familiar, and it is best to practice like a reflex action.
In the final surgery exam, a level only takes six minutes and thirty seconds to operate. There is not much time for you to think about what to do next. It is very helpful to be able to practice with your partner until two people can work together to make the next step fully and automatically. necessary .
▲ Some notes for taking the exam at that time are organized on the notion webpage , and those who need it can refer to it.
Here comes the point, that's how scars come.
On the first day of class, the instructor recommended everyone. After class, you can wear knee pads. It doesn't matter if you don't wear them. After the training, you will have beautiful souvenirs on your knees to take home .
"Because of the next process, I will make everyone kneel down to explode!!!"
At that time, my brain circuit was thinking like this:
I'm really too lazy to buy another knee pad (I have a knee pad for mountaineering, the middle is hollow, and it's completely useless here),
And the training course is only 5 days, short, I am so strong, how can I be so exaggerated, at most my knees will hurt, right?
If you want to kneel, kneel, I'm not afraid, Who is afraid of who, I'm not in Care.
In the end, I just knelt down to the point where my knees broke two holes ...
This is a,
It's a knee wound that's proud and insane...
Yes, as mentioned above, there will be two holes in the knee,
That is, I have been kneeling all the time during the course, kneeling to the point where I am not showing off politely.
And it is not a simple kneeling, it is a kneeling method that requires a high kneeling posture, kneeling with the whole body weight on the cute and thin knees.
Kneel when assessing the injured, kneel when using the three machines (blood pressure, blood oxygen, thermometer), kneel when giving oxygen nasal cannula, kneel when using oropharynx, not to mention immobilization, kneel for me Don't move around (otherwise, the poor injured spine may not be so serious, and the tragedy of GG if it is not fixed).
This is the wound that this bloody, proud, and a bit idiot out of his mind (why didn't I buy a knee pad), got.
I especially remember that one afternoon, we worked in pairs and practiced CPR and AED all afternoon.
To perform chest compression correctly, you must take a high kneeling position, apply the correct force, and press deeply enough to be the correct heart massage.
And not just kneeling there , two teams need to change hands (one for chest compression, one for AED preparation for electric shock and giving oxygen recovery balls), so it is:
Kneeling (in a hurry) → get up and change hands (chaos) → kneel (continue to be in a hurry) → get up and change hands (chaos again...)
I have to feel that it is not just my knee injury, my entire knee is rattling and I need to take calcium.
So, this time the scars are accumulated!
The first day I went home from training, my knees were only red and I felt a little pain, but it should be alright, nothing;
At the end of the second day, my knees started to bruise a little from kneeling for a long time (and standing up, kneeling back again, and hitting my knees many times), but it's okay, bear with it;
On the third day, I started to break my skin a little, but... it's okay, I broke a little skin, anyway, I'm very skinny;
On the fourth day...Er, when I got home, I was thinking about what to remember for the exam on the last day. I was taking a shower, and it was so painful that I squeaked... After the skin on my knee was broken, the shower gel The foam flows down the stream and digs the game. It's a bit too refreshing. Oh my god, it really hurts. The instructor turned out that you didn't lie to me...;
On the last afternoon of the fifth day of the practical exam, when I knelt on the floor again and started a series of assessment procedures smoothly with my partner, my broken knee was screaming loudly .
Ah, but who cares about your knees , our internal medicine (non-trauma)/surgery (trauma), the examination evaluation process is limited to six and a half minutes, the standard is to complete the long backboard/stretcher, your knees are not at all. The key point is whether Annie can wake up and whether the process is solid and carefully completed each step is the key .
Then, as the title of the article says,
I successfully passed the written test, and I also played a tacit understanding with my partner to complete the practical test.
Finally, what was the motivation for getting the scar in the first place?
Why I Decided to Take the EMT-1
Paying so much (6500 yuan, which is not really too small), kneeling down on your knees and making proud scars, spending five days sweating like rain, and remembering a lot of things in your mind and body, So, is it worth it?
I don't want to be an emergency responder, or a related career.
But I think it 's very worthwhile to spend money on the initial training,
The broken skin on the knee and the scar on the knee are also full of pride and worth.
I have known for a long time that the knowledge, tools and teaching materials of first aid are changing with each passing day.
To learn these skills, in addition to helping yourself, the most important thing is to be able to help the people around you,
In particular, in fact, the most often and most likely to be helped are the family members and friends who live with us.
For example, in cardiac arrest (caused by VF ventricular fibrillation), from witnessing to shock delivery (AED defibrillation)
Time is a factor affecting survival, and without cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), survival rates drop by 7-10% per minute.
Going to take the EMT-1 test is not just for this certificate.
It is to learn the most basic emergency first aid skills, and hope that in this life, you don't need to use the best for others,
If you really need to use it one day,
Also let yourself know how to use it, how to help others, and how to save a life.
The scars on the knees, the red and swollen skin, although a little painful, even a little funny,
But, this scar is—
Try to make yourself a person who can help others, and strive to become a person who can contribute to others and society,
proof.
This is a story of proud scars, and a story of blood scars,
More scars are the stories that prove the badge.
It's a story about not being sober and not buying knee pads.
↓Yes, it became like this, there are pictures and the truth, and then it scabs.
※In addition, I will organize my own notes (including practice and written test) into word text, and organize them into notion (click me) , which can be used as needed, but these notes do not cover all the scope of the test, and others also Don't forget to read and review!
Scars make us hurt, let us grow,
Sometimes it makes us proud,
Sometimes, it gives us the opportunity to become better people.
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
