Ten small sharings about the UK (life articles) - detailed discussion and experience (3)
A long, long time ago, there was a girl who enthusiastically started to write articles about the British small sharing series. As a result, she hadn't updated it for a long time, and found that if she didn't write again, she would almost forget the existence of this series. .
Then this time, let's talk about a little British sharing that has something to do with food!

6. Oven is a must-have cooking appliance in every home 🍕
In Malaysia, family kitchens usually see various pots of different sizes and shades, as well as at least one good helper for cooking rice - rice cooker. In the oven, it is generally less visible. Maybe some families who like to make desserts or breads will specially buy a small home oven.
The first time I saw a larger oven, the kind that was built-in and integrated with the stove, was when I came to the UK to live in a university dorm. This is the picture below:
I still remember that in my junior year, a roommate used the oven for almost every meal. The food he bakes most often is pizza, and occasionally he buys frozen chicken nuggets and chips to bake, or he buys pre-made dishes and pops them in the microwave.
Usually British supermarkets will sell a box of prepared food, just put it in the oven and bake it in the oven or microwave it and you can eat it. And there are a wide variety of Italian, Thai, Chinese, and Indian dishes.
Leave the food to the oven/microwave for "keeping" according to the instructions on the package. When the time is up, the door is opened, and the meal is ready. It's fast and convenient, and it's perfectly fine if you can't cook it, but it's delicious. Not necessarily XDD I have eaten ones that are completely tasteless, and I have eaten super delicious ones, but most of them belong to the average. Usually the taste depends on the price (nonsense XD).
(I don't know if there are such pre-made dishes in countries other than Malaysia? Since I haven't seen it in Malaysia, I think it's very novel.)
During my stay in the UK I went to different houses and it was only then that I realised that every kitchen must have a built-in oven. I also discovered that the British really love to bake things: baked potatoes, French fries, pizza, Sunday Roast (Sunday Roast in English, as the name suggests is Sunday's roast dinner), shepherd's pie, fish pie, various cakes and desserts. . . I also discovered that the cooking method of "roasting" is quite common in Western food culture.
And I like baking, and it also started when I came across this kind of oven that can be used at any time~ (Because my oven is stored in the storage space, and when I need it, I have to dig it out of the box and dig it out. "Come out, it's too much work for me XDDD)
***If you come to the UK to play, the accommodation provides ovens, you can try to buy oven-style dishes and bake them at home, and see for yourself! ***
