'Grasshopper': Killer Haunts Watch Out
Sometimes the joy of reading a novel is that you can't guess what the next sentence of the novel will be.
Novels like this are not easy to come across, and many are too formulaic, in other words too guesswork.
However, this "Grasshopper" by Kotaro Isaka really has a lot of surprises, especially the beginning of the plot, which is like watching a movie full of black humor, with constant surprises.
"Grasshopper" is the first part of Isaka's killer trilogy, the second "Ladybug" was introduced last time, and today I'll talk about the beginning of the killer series (in fact, each book is independent, it doesn't matter which one you read first ).
"Grasshopper" tells the story of a killer, but don't worry, it's definitely not a dark killer story. On the contrary, there is humor everywhere, and it won't feel too heavy to read.
Three protagonists, one determined to avenge his wife, the other two are professional killers. These two killers are not simple. "Whale" is good at persuading people to commit suicide, and creates the illusion of committing suicide for politicians because of fear of crime; while "Cicada" is good at killing blood cases, and thinks that killers who refuse to kill women and children are unprofessional performances. . As for "Suzuki" who is not a killer, although he is just an ordinary teacher, in order to avenge his wife, he hastily joined a fraudulent company and waited for an opportunity to approach the murderer for revenge.
The stories of the three protagonists are interspersed with each other. Of course, readers guessed that they would meet in the end. Although there was no great spark after the encounter, the plot lines and unexpected plots still appeared like other Isaka's novels, which made readers satisfied.
"Grasshopper" is about a killer's world. Of course, that world is completely different from what we come into contact with on a daily basis, and the values of all the characters are a little distorted. Killers certainly don't feel any guilt about killing people, and people who are forced to kill themselves don't care if they feel dead. In a twisted world, but with a little inspiration.
When I read it, I didn't understand why the book about the killer was called "Grasshopper", because the book never mentioned any grasshopper. Only later did it become clear that the word "grasshopper" meant locusts. And the characters in the novel do have some discussion about locusts.
No matter what kind of creature it is, as long as it lives in groups, its shape will gradually change. Become dark, irritable, brutal. Eventually become locusts. Therefore, no matter what the nature of human beings, as long as they get together, they will eventually become locusts.
The scary thing is that human beings still have to live in groups. Therefore, there are too many dark and sighing things happening in reality. Humans say that they want a bright and beautiful life, but they destroy the real beauty step by step.
"Grasshopper" has been adapted into a comic to make the characters more vivid. "Cicada" has become the most brilliant killer. When I read the novel, I really felt that the part of Cicada was relatively cool. Like a cicada who kept talking about the killer, he was actually a young man.
"Grasshopper" has also been made into a Japanese movie, and Kas is also very strong. There are Toma Ikuta, Tadanobu Asano, Ryosuke Yamada, Nainao, etc. They are also very good.
