"Online Salon Series" Aspects of Surrogacy Issues
The gestational surrogacy practice, which has recently sparked heated discussions on the Chinese Internet, has a history of more than 30 years since the first successful case in 1986. This technology directly points to the core reproductive behavior of human beings, and impacts the traditional concept of family and the model of raising offspring. The discussion on the legalization and commercialization of surrogacy has touched many fields such as law, morality, ethics, politics, economy, etc., and has extensive and far-reaching influence on the whole society, especially women.
Regrettably, in the face of this complex social issue, this discussion wave mainly presents slogan-style criticism, which covers up the many faces and complex relationships behind the problem, and also reflects some of the technical issues from the side. Myth and unrealistic imagination. Therefore, we planned this series of salons and invited five scholars to provide multi-faceted and in-depth discussions on surrogacy issues from the perspectives of public discussion, clinical medicine, women's rights, law and political philosophy, and Chinese fieldwork.
