First of all, why get married in Denmark? This is the first question everyone asks me.

In fact, it is because the document requirements are relatively simple. For example, just for the "certificate of singleness", Denmark only requires a single certificate issued within six months from the place where you live; but I heard that Germany will require two certificates from the place of nationality where you are. Proof of single status within the week.

It is equivalent to asking S to fly back to Taiwan and then fly back to Germany within two weeks to get married. This is too difficult...
Therefore, it was my duty to choose Denmark from the beginning of the fight with Xiao Ma (is this the idiom used like this? xD)

This tutorial is also about getting married in Denmark. If you want to get married in Germany, don’t ask me! Because I basically decided to get married in Denmark and didn’t study how to use it in Germany~

The basic process for getting married in Denmark is:

➡️ 1. Pay the application documents online to apply for marriage ➡️ 2. Go to the City Hall (Rathaus) to authenticate the documents one day before the wedding
➡️ 3. Wedding day@City Hall (Rathaus)
➡️ 4. Get the Apostille from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark ➡️ 5. Get the stamp of Taiwan certification from the Taipei Representative Office in Denmark ➡️ 6. Return to Germany and Taiwan for certification

This article will only discuss 1. to 5., the part of returning to Germany and Taiwan for certification. I am afraid that everyone will fall asleep, so I will discuss it in another article later ~ (Marriage is really a troublesome thing)

The processing speed in Denmark is really much faster than that in Germany, because Denmark has regulations that the process from document review to marriage must be completed within three months, while for us, from paying the documents to getting married, it took less than two months. Finish.

Another pair of our friends who tried to apply for marriage in Germany said that they had applied for six months without success, so they finally decided to go to Denmark and the money they paid to the German government was treated as a charity donation (we commemorate it) $$)

Okay, without further ado, let’s go straight to the step-by-step tutorial for the mentally retarded:

➡️ 1. Pay application documents online to apply for marriage

Required documents:
· Scan of entire passport · Single certificate (Erweiterte Meldebescheinigung)
· Proof that we have lived together (formerly Meldebescheinigung) (because my husband and I are special, we do not officially live together or register at the same address)

step:
First, go to the official Danish website to apply to get married in Denmark, and click on the SMS registration ("SMS text") in the picture below.

Enter your mobile phone number on the following page and click "Send me the code". You will receive the code from the Danish government. After entering it, you can start the application.

After you start the application, you will see this page. Basically all the steps have been listed. Just follow the steps and fill in your personal information. Remember, during the filling process, the information will be automatically stored, but It will be deleted after seven days. If you have not filled it out in one go and have not logged in for more than seven days, you will have to fill it all out again.

If you just want to register your marriage and don’t care whether it’s in a church or not, then the first step is to choose “Civil Marriage” (as shown below)

The next question is to choose which city in Denmark to get married in (pictured below).

Here we strongly recommend the capital Copenhagen (Copenhagen Kommune). In addition to stopping by the amusement park Tivoli, you will need to obtain the Apostille certification and the Taiwan certification stamp in Copenhagen. Therefore, if you go to other cities, you will still get it in the end. Why bother with applying for documents in Copenhagen~

The information to be filled in is basically very simple. The following S only provides a few questions that may cause confusion for your reference~

· Nationality:
o Germans please choose Country within the EU
o Taiwanese please choose Another country

·What Nationality?
o Taiwan (Yes, Denmark considers Taiwan its country!)

· Personal ID
o Fill in the passport number followed by the brackets (Passport), such as: 888888888 (Passport)

· Country code: (mobile number)
o +49 (assuming everyone has a German phone number like me)

·Mobile number
o 1xxxxxxxxxx (no need to fill in 0 in front)

· Are you exempted from visa requirement?
o This part asks you whether you can enter Denmark without a visa?
I chose Yes because I have a German work visa and can already move around the Schengen area.
If you are Taiwanese, you can also choose Yes, because Taiwanese can stay in Denmark without a visa for 90 days.

· Kindly attach documentation for legal residence in Denmark
o The document I attached at the time was my German work visa, but I think Taiwanese should be able to attach Taiwan’s passport directly, and they would know that we are a visa-free country.

· Kindly attach civil status certificate

o This is the so-called "certificate of singlehood". For those who live in Germany, you only need the Erweiterte Meldebescheinigung. How to apply can refer to this article written by S before: Obtaining the Naturalization Certificate Meldebescheinigung in Germany

· Are you under guardianship?
o No (I think everyone should be adults? xD) This article should be used by Denmark to avoid the child marriage problem that some countries force children to marry.

· Do you live together/Have previously lived together?
o I answered Yes. If you have proof of living together (that is, your German naturalization certificate if you have lived at the same address for a period of time), it is strongly recommended to answer Yes. This question should also be used in Denmark to avoid fake marriages. an important issue

· Where and what periods have you lived together?
o Fill in the address and time you have proof of living together.

· Kindly attach certificate of residence
o The naturalization certificate (Meldebescheinigung) issued by the German municipal government

· Attach signed 11B declaration here:
o (you can ignore this question), unless one of you is a Danish national, you must attach the file

The above are questions that may be difficult to answer. The rest are all based on your own personal information ~ you should be able to answer them yourself!
After filling in, you need to print out the entire document, sign it, upload it, and then pay. The document submission is considered successful.

After the payment is completed, the Danish government will review whether the information you filled in is true and whether you want to get a fake marriage to get a visa. In fact, we don’t know the review standards in this regard, but I heard that if you have proof that you have lived together, it will be better. It's easy to pass this level.

The following is the document flow chart for applying for marriage:

The Danish government is super fast. After we paid the application documents on June 22, we received a confirmation letter from the Danish government on June 27, confirming that there were no problems with our application documents.

After clicking the link in the confirmation letter, it will send you a mobile phone input code, and then you can enter it on the web page that the link takes you to (as shown below)

After inputting, you will come to this page. Click on the yellow background words below to see the proof that our documents have passed the review.

The following is our verification certificate, please click Download to save it.

Note that the Danish government here requires us to get married within three months after the document approval date (6/27/2019), which means that 10/27/2019 is the deadline, so when the time comes to set the wedding date, don’t make too many reservations. Late!

At the bottom of this verification letter, there will be a link to make an appointment, which is the yellow background in the picture below.
No need to be polite, just order it for him.

Then you can start choosing the wedding venue. You can choose to have an indoor City Hall or outdoor open air weddings. I originally wanted to choose open air weddings, but the wedding time I wanted was already taken away, so I had to choose City. Hall

After selecting the location and time, you will receive a bill from the Danish government and instructions on what to pay attention to on the wedding day.

The next step is to prepare to get married in Denmark! Remember to go to Denmark for document certification at least one day before the wedding. S suggested that in order to avoid accidents, it is best to go to Denmark for certification 2-3 days in advance. It is really too much to rush in one day~~ ~

➡️ 2. Go to the City Hall (Rathaus) to authenticate the documents one day before the wedding

Required documents:
· Passport · Visa

The above are the necessary documents according to the official, but in order to avoid them suddenly wanting to authenticate other documents, my husband and I still brought the original of the single certificate (Erweiterte Meldebescheinigung) and the original certificate of living together (Meldebescheinigung)

step:
It's super simple. Go directly to the Danish City Hall (Rathaus) and tell the guard that you are here to certify documents. They will show you the location of the office. Just go and hand in the documents. The clerk will tell you, please two or three people. Come back after an hour and they will confirm that the document is the original and return it to you, so you can go directly to the third step!

➡️ 3. Wedding day@City Hall (Rathaus)

Required documents:
none

step:
The wedding day was also super simple. Officially, we just needed to arrive in person and didn’t need to bring any documents. They knew who it was (magical memory recognition My beautiful face arrived at the scene.

There are many other couples waiting to get married at the scene, but the witness will come out and call your name, so just wait until you are called before you go.

The thoughtful thing about Denmark is that you don’t have to prepare a witness or a photographer yourself. After you enter the small room where the marriage is solemnized, there will be one person to witness the marriage for you and another person to take the photos for you, although I don’t think that person’s photos are very good (as shown below) ) XD

After the above steps are completed, you are basically officially married! The only thing left is to get the Hague certification and Taiwan certification stamp in order to return to Germany and Taiwan for certification later.

➡️ 4. Get Apostille @ Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Apostille certification is a Danish national agency (that is, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) that assures other countries that the seal of a small local municipal government in Denmark is a real seal. Only documents that have been certified by the Hague can be used in Germany. Effective with "Denmark Taipei Office".

In other words, we must first go to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs before we can go to Taiwan’s representative office in Denmark in Taipei, because the representative office in Denmark in Taipei wants to certify that the seal of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is authentic.

The place where the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs handles apostille is very small. It is actually just an agency responsible for stamping. You can find it by following the instructions in the picture below.

Required documents:
· The Danish marriage certificate you received on your wedding day

step:
Go directly online to an official Danish app to register and pay on the spot (a concept of drawing a number plate), and then hand the proof of payment and marriage certificate to the organizer.

(The following is the Danish App)

Apostille is actually attaching a piece of paper and stamping a stamp to the back of your marriage certificate to prove that it is an official document, which can then be used back in Taiwan and Germany.

➡️ 5. Get the seal of Taiwan certification @ Taipei Representative Office in Denmark

Finally, we have come to the last step of our trip to Denmark~ This step is our friendly representative office in Taipei, Denmark.

Required documents:
· The Danish marriage certificate you got on your wedding day and the Apostille on the back of it
· Copies of your and your husband’s passports (or the passports themselves, since the Taipei representative office will scan them for you anyway)
· $149 DKK. If you cannot pick up the package on the same day and need to be sent by the other party, an additional $100 DKK will be charged.

step:
After arriving at the Danish Taipei office, they will attach a piece of paper "certifying the authenticity of the signature of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs" to your marriage certificate, so that you can register it when you return to the Taiwan Household Registration Office.

The above are all the must-do things for a trip to Denmark. It seems like a lot, but it’s actually not troublesome. Just visit every place!

By the way, after registering at the Danish city government, you still have to go to steps 4 and 5, so I strongly recommend that you don’t choose a Friday to get married in Denmark. Otherwise, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs will not be open on Saturdays and Sundays, so why not? I want to fly to Denmark again.

As for how to authenticate the Danish marriage certificate after returning to Germany and Taiwan?

We will discuss this in the next article. S is so tiring to write ~ I think everyone must be tired to read it too

But don’t worry, everyone. After all the above steps are completed, the documents required from Denmark for returning to Germany and Taiwan will be completed, so everyone can return to Taiwan or Germany with peace of mind and have a good rest.

Finally, I wish everyone a smooth marriage!
