【FULL FEATURE】Stand apart, scattered and gathered: Independent Bookstores ׀ Independent Bookstores ׀ Documentary ׀ Documentary ׀ The WELL

In recent years, a number of independent bookstores have opened, scattered all over Hong Kong, and they have their own way of operating.

Kwun Tong bookstore "Xi Shi x Leisure Club" recently held a three-day book sharing activity together with six bookstores in Kowloon district. What kind of sparks will there be in the cooperation with different industries? We recruited some of the collaborators, including Kadey Jadey Picture Book Children's Music, Yiping Half-Gender Space, and Leaving the Bookhouse, and wrote down their stories of "being broken and standing, scattered and gathered".

In recent years, a few independent bookstores have newly opened, scattered all over Hong Kong. Most of them have their own ways of operating, but mainly hope to break with the long tradition of the bookstores.

“Mellow Out”, a bookstore in Kwun Tong, had recently held a three-day book sharing activity, together with 6 bookstores in Kowloon district. What kind of sparks will there be in the cooperation with stores in the same industry? We invited the collaborators, including “Kadey Jadey”, “One Book Half” and “Have A Nice Stay” , to document their stories of “breaking and building, scattered and gathered”.
