Holy matters:

When she was busy at noon, chatting with her lover on WeChat, she complained, crying and laughing, that in the lunch her family had prepared for her, many children had eaten the chicken wings left after the skin (the children at home like to eat chicken skin). I asked her why, and she said that the elderly have a saying that if the child eats the leftovers and the adults do not help to finish it, the adults will be damaged.

In addition to joking, I also remembered those strange and interesting oral rumors circulating in my hometown of Da Liao when I was a child, many of which were related to eating. For example, I remember a saying that impressed me the most, saying that when children eat steamed buns, they should eat the whole mouthful and not peel them off. The steamed big white steamed buns are soaring, and the skin will come off as soon as they are torn. Many children like to tear the skin and eat it, but when adults see it, they are often scared to say that they can't peel the skin and eat steamed buns, otherwise the grandma's family will be poor. Although I was a little skeptical, I was still a little unscrupulous. I had to tear the steamed bun’s scalp, because at that time I naively thought: Humph, I can’t scare me, anyway, my grandmother and grandfather passed away when my mother was very young, so I can’t be poor anymore. .

I can't help but smile when I think about it now. I think it may be because adults are afraid of picky eaters, so they deliberately made up some oral rumors. After all, the head of the steamed bun is soft and delicious. Core is better. I also remembered another story about saving food. When I was a child, adults often told us that, in the past, there was a son of a rich family. Because the family was rich, every time the child ate dumplings, he only ate dumpling belly. , spit out the dumplings and didn't eat them. There was an old servant at home who secretly kept the dumplings left by the young master, and kept them after drying. Later, the rich man's family fell into disrepair, and the young master also lived on the streets. Then the servant took out the dumpling skins that were dried in the past, and cooked them for the poor young master to eat. The young master eats the deliciousness, and the young master will no longer be picky eaters.

Whenever the adults finished speaking to us, they would give us a meaningful look, as if to say: You, understand? If you are picky eaters, you will be a beggar. This trick is quite clever. After I said it several times, the small flame that wanted to vomit the dumpling skin went out.

In addition to these oral rumors related to eating, there are also some folk oral legends. For example, you cannot cut your hair in the first month, otherwise you will meet Uncle Fang (the word Fang, in the context of the Great Liao Kingdom, means unfavorable and bad luck). For example, don’t plant jujube trees lightly, or when the jujube trees grow to the size of a dog’s neck, the person who planted them will die. When I was a child, because of the relative lack of material, I was greedy, and there were few kinds of fruits. I wanted to eat different fruits. I dug a wild jujube sapling from the wild and transplanted it into the yard. I ate the jujube when I ordered the flowers and fruit, but I was very afraid, for fear that my life would be on this jujube tree. Fortunately, the jujube tree died for no apparent reason after a few years, and a heart finally fell to the ground.

One of the most anticipated and favorite legends is that if children don’t lie, they can hear the Cowherd and Weaver Girl whispering while standing under the grape trellis on the night of Qixi Festival every year. So when I was a child, I would feel the darkness every year on the night of Qixi Festival, sneaking to the grape trellis in the yard and standing stupidly. Regrettably, apart from the chirping of crickets and the barking of local dogs from the neighbors, I never once heard the Cowherd and Weaver Girl's whispers. Looking back, I still wonder, um, it should be when I lied accidentally, so if my heart is dishonest, I can’t hear it, it’s okay, I don’t lie for another year, and I will definitely hear it next year. The self-comforting tree-hole character may have begun to develop since then.

These childhood stories and legends are really very alive, even after so many years, every time I think about it, every detail is vivid in my mind. Today's children are probably not as simple and stupid as we were when we were young, but when the children at home don't eat well, I will follow the picture book and tell them that there are many elves living in their stomachs. If they don't eat well, The elves will strike. Every time I see my childhood self in the half-believing eyes of my child. The stories are different, but good wishes and kind education have also been passed down from generation to generation in different forms.
