Gitcoin Grants is held again, this time in the 21st round. This article will introduce two interesting Asia Round projects.

Gitcoin Grants 21 has been officially launched and will last until 23:59 on August 21 (East 8th District). The theme of this round of grants is to cooperate with partners and empower external communities. This ecological round comes to Celo and Arbitrum On-chain community. List of all Gitcoin Grants projects

1) Funding the Commons (FtC) is a platform to accelerate the development and application of blockchain infrastructure. It is an independent project incubated by Protocol Labs. Its main goal is to promote Public Goods by cultivating cross-Web2, Web3, academia, Ecosystems of public institutions, philanthropy and industry to make systemic change in both directions.

Simply put, the platform's goal is to help Public Goods' projects be more easily and systematically presented to people, with the aim of growing the community, reshaping the right to speak, and allocating resources effectively. I saw two interesting projects on the FtC website. The first one is the "FtC + Artizen Fund", which supports visionary creators who develop interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. It is called the Humanitarian Fund for Displaced Storytellers. Narrators provide humanitarian funding to preserve oral histories and traditions to revolutionize refugee aid by leveraging blockchain technology to create new mechanisms for protecting cultural heritage.

The second is Earth Commons, which is open to everyone to participate through conferences, hackathons and residency programs, and provides scholarships to those in need. The scope is to explore land management innovation and environmental asset models, aiming to promote the sustainable development of precious resources. The goal is to transform the financing and governance of natural common assets such as the atmosphere, forests, oceans, biodiversity, freshwater resources and other ecosystems by uniting the power of Web2, Web3, research, philanthropy and industry.

Among Gitcoin's participating projects this time, the above projects have a broad vision of Public Goods and try to improve the public discussion of Public Goods.

2) Decentralized Cleanup Network is a decentralized cleaning movement that originated from GreenPill Phangan’s initiative in Thailand. The idea of the project is to reward local and global communities for random or organized clean-up actions. The current trial version includes NFT participation certificates based on Unlock Protocol.

Decentralized Cleanup Network is a blockchain platform that is a transparent and certifiable system to reward individuals and communities for their contributions to the environment. Participants are required to use a decentralized application (DApp) to record cleaning status and submit photographic evidence to receive digital assets as rewards. Currently, the project has launched a dApp on the ARB chain. The method is that participants can mint NFT in the system and provide photos of the cleaning campaign. Each NFT will be upgraded through ten steps.

The project timeline is as follows:

- Released on the Arbitrum chain in September this year, it is divided into three levels to encourage early participants, activate the community, complete the settlement of partners, and lay the foundation for network growth.

- Conduct marketing efforts and establish partnerships in the fourth quarter of this year.

- Expansion in the second quarter of 2025, and version 2.0 launched in the fourth quarter of 2025.

This project uses blockchain technology to encourage the integration of Web3 technology into actions in the Web2 world, allowing meaningful things to develop in a more sustainable manner.
