After I started working in a Chinese newspaper, the mediocre me still relied on reading newspapers and a lot of books to improve myself. I also set up a blog to write mood articles when I have time, just like I want to keep writing to make myself improve little by little. In addition, the way of writing, whether it is news, blogs, novels or even reviews, at the beginning, I rely on imitating other people's articles to explore the writing style that suits me.

Up to now, I still maintain these practices, but part of the time is occupied by the mobile phone. I can't deny that I forget to eat and sleep when I have a phone in my hand! The emergence of smart phones can really make you waste time, but also waste a lot of fun.

In fact, so far, my Chinese ability is still very ordinary, and there are typos when writing, and my idioms are not very good, so I rarely use idioms in my articles to avoid my shortcomings. I can work in a Chinese newspaper because I have accumulated experience, I know what news should not be trampled on, and how to write it.

In the past few years as a news editor, my job is to review and revise the manuscripts of journalists. In addition to reviewing and revising whether there are typos, whether the sentences are clear and logical, and simplifying the news, modern people do not have so much time to read long-form news, so it is most important to focus directly.

Reporters will occasionally make a mistake in the focus of the news, turning a secondary point into a key point, and correcting it is also the job of a news editor. These all depend on accumulation of experience, as well as understanding and sensitivity to social current affairs.

News editors often remind reporters of the things they should pay attention to, including text specifications and typos. In fact, these are all good. Half of the manuscripts written by some reporters are incomprehensible or completely incomprehensible. If it is a new reporter, this is understandable. After all, it still needs to be cultivated slowly and given time to grow up, but many of them are reporters who have been working for more than 3 years. Some mistakes have been repeatedly reminded, even for a few years. Still can't fix it.

Some reporters write news in the way they speak, and they just write what they respond to. They don't write news until they don't digest it themselves.

Some reporters came to ask me before, how should I write the news well? From my experience, I say that it is to read more, watch more news, read more about how others write, and pay attention to correcting mistakes.

It is very important to read more, watch more news, and study more about the way people write news. This can absorb a lot of nutrients, such as how to use vocabulary and writing skills, which is very helpful for news writing.
