1) alone / lonely

👉alone - no one else; alone

📕Example sentences
I do not have any roommates. I live alone.
I have no other roommates. I live alone.

👉 lonely - lonely, lonely

📕Example sentences
She gets lonely now that all the kids have left home.
Now that the children are out of the house, she feels a little lonely.


2) Desert / desert

👉 dessert - sweet food; dessert

📕Example sentences
I ordered ice-cream for dessert.
I ordered ice cream for dessert.

👉 desert - desert (noun); abandon (verb)

📕Example sentences
All of his family members and his friends deserted him after he broke.
After he went bankrupt, all his family and friends abandoned him.

3) except / expect

👉 except - except; except

📕Example sentences
The museum is open daily except Monday(s).
The museum is open every day except Mondays.

👉 expect - expect, expect; expect

📕Example sentences
After one-week preparation, I expect all of you are ready for the final exam.
After a week of preparation, I expect you all to be ready for your final exams.


4) sympathy/empathy

👉 sympathy - compassion

📕Example sentences
I do not have much sympathy for him. He deserves that.
I have no sympathy for him, he deserves it.

👉 empathy - empathy; sympathy; resonance

📕Example sentences
Empathy is the capacity to understand or feel what another being is experiencing from his/her perspective.
Empathy is the ability to put yourself in another person's shoes and understand the feelings of others.

5) Immoral / immortal

👉 immoral - immoral; immoral

📕Example sentences
It's an immoral tax, because the poor will pay relatively more.
This is an unethical tax because the poor pay relatively more.

👉 immortal - immortal; immortal; everlasting

📕Example sentences
Some people long for being immortal.
Some people long for eternal life.
