What I want to share today is the current special exhibition that was exhibited at the Dadun Cultural Center in Taichung City in the past: [ Bali under the Carving Knife 2021 ]. If you can't go abroad, let's go to see the exotic exhibition! The creator , Mr. Mate Made , is from Bali, Indonesia. The woodcarving works are quite lively and vivid. Not only are the knife craftsmanship delicate, but also the work is super warm. It brings out the warm texture of wood to the fullest. Rendered by that warmth, I feel very happy in my heart unconsciously!

• Description of the work : A solemn statue of the elephant god , sitting upright, listening to various needs and voices with big ears. The elephant god has four arms, the fearless Abba mudra in the right hand represents peace, the left hand holds sweets and joy represents food, and the elephant god represents wisdom and happiness . Creation is also a symbol of auspiciousness and a god who removes all obstacles .

I really like the feeling of elephants , which is gentle and powerful. This statue of the elephant god also gives people a round and happy feeling, which makes those who see it happy~

• Description of the work : Western mythical beasts with oriental colors.

The explanation is super straightforward~ The unicorn is also very round! This is the first time I saw a work that uses wood to express the image of a unicorn. It is carved according to the direction of the wood grain. The lines on the face, wings and legs are all super realistic. It's really beautiful~ Delicate in the middle A powerful piece of work.

• Description of the work : The inspiration comes from the shape of wood.

This description is very personal! So sincere and interesting works homophonic ~

I think this Martell Made teacher must have a very optimistic personality, in order to create so many sculptures that combine free and easy and meticulous, between the layers of wood textures, outline the teacher's vitality and hope for the world.  The artist Made from Bali and settled in Taiwan uses his own growth background and life experience as his creative inspiration to write a full story through wood carving. Made grew up under the nourishment of the village and family art, and began to learn wood carving at the age of 8. In addition, he has worked in Club Med New Credonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Bali, Maldives, etc. He has worked in a resort for many years, and continues to improve his experience through travel and work. This exhibition will present woodcarving works during his travels in various countries in the past few decades.
