New Zealand | Wellington | Waterfront Walk & Queen Wharf
During the journey of free travel in New Zealand , I came to Wellington Waterfront , a walk similar to the freshwater shore of Wellington , starting from Wellington Town Hall in the urban area. This building has been in use since December 1904, and part of it is used as a concert hall, opera house...etc.
Cross the sidewalk next to City Hall.
The huge square in front of you is the Civic Square next to the City Hall.
There is a Wellington City Gallery next to the square, which often holds different exhibitions, one of which is dedicated to the culture and art of Maori and the Pacific.
There is also a Wellington City Libraries next to it. The whole piece of transparent floor-to-ceiling windows makes people want to walk in and visit.
The library houses a collection of more than 600,000 books, with a total of three floors for public use.
After leaving the square, walk towards the shore and pass the well-designed City To Sea Bridge.
It is connected to a small square on the bridge, and there are very special hearts and arrows on the railing.
Looking towards the opposite bank from the small square, is the Whairepo Lagoon, where events are often held, and the building in front of The Boatshed is an event space that can be rented.
Go down the bridge and see a door shaped like a fishbone.
Walk to the opposite bank you just saw on the bridge and look back at the way you just walked. If you come here on holiday, you will see many friends or families sitting here for picnics and chatting.
Taking Whairepo Lagoon as the center point, there are two directions, one is to go to Te Papa Museum (you will see a construction ship parked at the port).
There are many installations around Te Papa Museum.
The above are all installations that I find interesting in Wellington. The other direction is to connect to the TSB Bank Arena in Queens Wharf. First, you will pass a heart lock bridge like Paris, France. The locks on the bridge are very special. In addition to the basic locks, there are many distinctive locks on it. Engraved with the couple's names.
There is also an installation art of a torpedo under the bridge (it should be a torpedo, right?)
It was just close to evening, and the slanting sunlight made the bridge beautiful.
Continue to walk forward, encounter a huge and carved stone slab.
Is walking to remind me to start doubting life?
When you come to the TSB Bank Arena in Queens Wharf, there is a large warehouse next to it, similar to the exhibition hall in Kaohsiung Pier 2. There are often many events held and people visit, and this small dome will occasionally have events, such as At that time, I came across an event held by the Korean Culture Festival here.
There are also many galleries, art galleries, restaurants, etc. nearby, and the NZ Academy of Fine Arts, which was filmed on the side of the road before, is also next to it.
There is also this The New Zealand Portrait Gallery nearby, and walking forward in the photo, you will encounter the same building, which is the warehouse of MOJO CAFE.
The most special thing is this design building, which is actually a public toilet.
The upper floor of this new building is the head office of Meridian Energy, and the lower floor is composed of cafes and restaurants. It is the first five-star green energy building in New Zealand, saving 60% of electricity and 70% of electricity compared to the same office building. % water.
There is also a place for people to rest next to this green energy building.
The MOJO CAFE just mentioned is also downstairs in this building. I like the cafe with floor-to-ceiling windows and a good lighting environment.
Wellington Waterfront Walk & Queens Wharf, this whole walk on the shore is very suitable for people to walk here, and it is also one of the favorite places in Wellington.
