One-click move from Medium to Matters

In August 2017, I wrote my first article about blockchain on Medium, which was my experience after reading the 9-page white paper of Bitcoin.

For the next six months, I fixed time in my spare time as a soldier to write three articles about blockchain every week and share them on the Facebook community. With the help of the algorithm, I have more and more followers on Medium. Including the first speech invitation, the first book invitation, and the paid subscription media two years ago are all inseparable from Medium.

I am grateful that Medium, a writing platform, continues to bring me many unexpected new opportunities, and now I am moving articles to Matters not because Medium is not doing well, but because Matters is getting better and better.

not for decentralization

Yes, I'm not talking about "decentralized" functions like Matters can be backed up to IPFS, after all I'm off work (no)

There is no sign that Medium is going to close down for the time being. There is no difference in whether the article is placed in Medium or in IPFS. This is a commercial consideration. In addition, my articles never seem to be at risk of being taken down by the government (don't know if I should self-review), this is a political consideration. Therefore, whether the storage location of the article is decentralized or not is actually not so interesting to me.

What made me choose to move was not the push of Medium, but the pull of Matters.

One-click moving

This is the main factor, but a short-term one. Without this function, do I have to manually move nearly a hundred articles on Medium? (offline)

I have recently come to know the concept of "transaction cost" in economics, and it should also apply here. Originally, the transaction cost of moving is very high, such as opening, copying, pasting, publishing, and publishing the selection time one by one. Tired of thinking about this.

One-click moving reduces the transaction cost of opening, copying, and pasting, and it is only left to decide the release time, so here I am.

Appreciation mechanism

This is a secondary factor, but a long-term factor. Although I operate a paid subscription media and have a fixed publicity rhythm, each article still has to choose between publicity and paywall. I would like to ask, after writing a good article that you feel proud of, should it be made public or limited to members?

The public is from the standpoint of creation, and the membership is limited from the standpoint of eating and drinking. Although the appreciation mechanism is not very helpful in the short term, it allows me to see the dawn that one day in the future, there will be no need to struggle. The combination of the two made me think Matters was getting better and better, so here I am.

Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
