[Learning Experience] YouTuber's first experience, it turned out to be so tired

This summer, my sister suddenly asked me, "Since you have teaching articles about programming on your own website, why don't we set up a YT channel to teach others to program?". "Lu...my technical strength is still very low, and I haven't made a YT video." Sister: "Anyway, try it out, record an episode first."

In this way, the first experience of YouTuber began!

Half a year, five films

I believe that this output must be unqualified😆. During this half-year period, the progress of the film is often delayed due to other things~ In order to speed up the output of the film, we finally adopted the "professional division of labor" method! I am in charge of video recording and programming teaching, while my sister is in charge of video editing and post-production.

The problem is, the film is really bad without subtitles, but the two of us have no extra time to type subtitles. When we were distressed, out of the corner of the eye, I saw my mother who was leisurely scrolling her mobile phone next to me... We found a new assistant! Just let my mother do the subtitles 🤣 It's fun for everyone to do it together~

The bitter blood and tears recorded in the video

Before recording each episode of teaching video, I will first decide the topic to be taught in this episode, and then look up some e-books on Python teaching on the Internet to see how others explain this topic. Finally, in your own style, you can type the teaching content into an article and put it on your own website .

After writing the teaching content, you can start making slides! Because it was the first experience, I didn't put much effort into the slideshow and used the concise template provided by Google Slide. According to the content of the article, draw the outline and complete the production of the slideshow!

Finally, it's the Great Demon King level~ Actual video recording! Eloquence does not mean that it is very good, and there is no way to write down the manuscript completely, and I don’t want to simply read it according to the manuscript. Each segment has to be re-recorded 5-6 times to be considered OK. After all, I'm not a full-time YouTuber, and I don't have good radio equipment. If the house is too noisy, there will be a lot of background noises (sudden "keng" or the like), so I have to touch my nose and re-record that segment. About 10-15 clips will be recorded per episode.

After finally recording all the clips ~ you must first do some processing on each clip through the editing software (iMovie)! For example, remove background noise, increase volume, remove stuttering parts, speed up movie. In the end, these clips are all connected together again, and it becomes a complete film!

Finally, there is the big devil among the big devils - subtitles! In order to reduce the workload of subtitles, we will first generate a verbatim transcript of the video through a speech-to-text software and upload it to YT. Through the background of YT, the subtitles are corrected one segment after another. After all, some English words, or places that are spoken too quickly, are often misidentified by the software ~ so the final correction is very important and takes the most time.

How is the viewing status of the video?

Deng Deng Deng! Parts 1 to 5 have accumulated a total of 3335 views, of which the first step contributed more than 60%, and other videos are really pitiful 🥲

The total accumulated hours is 208 hours! Compared to my post on Matters, this number is so pretty 🤣

The cumulative number of subscribers is 189, and there is one more today, making it 190! Thank you to these 190 fans who are willing to subscribe to the channel (even if the film frequency is so irregular), we will continue to work hard!
