【Shimotakecho - Nanaoji Japanese-style police dormitory】
Watching a TV program one day, the theme of "renovation of historic sites" was introduced, and I discovered that there was a site recently completed in Hsinchu and just opened. Just take advantage of this Mid-Autumn Festival holiday and accompany the other half back to Hsinchu to experience it.
"Shimotakecho-Nandaji Japanese-style police dormitory" is a police dormitory in the Showa period, with 2 venues. The closest to the parking station is No. 162 and No. 166 Nanda Road, which is planned as a restaurant, and is stationed by the Asian creative vegetable cuisine restaurant brand "Xinzhuku" . Because it was raining and the distance was close, we came here first.
After all, it is an old Japanese-style house. Although the interior floor has been covered with carpets, you don’t need to take off your shoes to enter. The space still has a strong Japanese-style Zen style.
Interestingly, although the stationed team "Xinzhuku" provides sparse food, it also provides bartending ; there is a Western-style food bar in the Japanese-style house.
Coconut milk accounts for a large proportion of the drinks they serve. I ordered a cup of coconut milk ice cream Affogato , both visually and tastefully, it is quite standard!
The other is the Japanese-style police dormitory on Nandaji Road, at 145 and 147 Nandaji Road, which is currently used as an exhibition hall. The current schedule is showing related paintings and police cultural relics with the theme of "police".
Due to the bad weather, there were only two volunteer teachers and me in the museum. But the volunteer teachers still enthusiastically explained the humanities and history of this area to me. Here are the highlights of what one of my teachers on history and architecture said:
This area was originally called "Black Gold Town" . It was named after the coal-burning steam locomotives in the early days made the houses around the railway line black, but they sparkled in the sunlight. The teacher said that there are still many "Black Gold Towns" in Japan, and the logic of naming is the same.
After the Restoration, the area was renamed "Xiazhuli" . In Taiwanese place names, if there are both "Xia X" and "Ding X" at the same time, usually "Xia X" is a settlement developed earlier, and it will be developed with a temple as the core. Xiazhuli is a settlement centered on the "Bamboo Lotus Temple" .
The teacher also recommended the larger Japanese-style ancient houses in Hsinchu City "Hsinchu State Police Minister's Office" & " Principal Xin Zhiping's Former Residence" . It seems that there are still many places to pick up some!
The old houses and monuments are really the products of culture and the witness of history. I hope that everyone will have a little more interest in exploring Taiwan's culture, so that our accumulated heritage will last forever.
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
