Today I want to discuss three books at a time, because they are all by co-author Simon Sinek . After I read these three books, I found that the content is similar. By sharing my reading experience, it may save you the time of repeated reading.
golden circle rule
doing what
This is the easiest to define. If you were a Starbucks waiter, you might say, "My job is to order food for guests, make delicious coffee for them, and clean the table after each guest leaves. ......" and so on, it's easy to figure out what you're doing .
How to do it
When the crowds are crowded, how do you plan the most efficient service so that guests won't wait too long? For example, ask a colleague who is good at making coffee and focus on making it, while you are in charge of ordering, and ask a new colleague to clean the table. How to increase the number of customers when the sales situation in the store is poor? ......Wait.
why
Why are you doing this work?
The "why" here does not mean "making money", making money is only the result, not the cause. "Why" is a purpose, mission and belief. Why do you want to work at Starbucks? Because the working atmosphere is very good, the colleagues are very friendly, the management cares about the feelings of all employees, and you love coffee, and seeing the happy appearance of customers tasting the coffee you make makes you look forward to going to work every day, and you are more motivated Refine your technique of drawing flowers.... This is your "why"!
“Repeated purchases and loyalty are definitely not the same thing. Repeat purchases are when someone does business with you more than once; loyalty is the customer who would rather reject a better product or price in favor of a product that continues to support you.” — Simon ‧Sinaik
The concept of the golden circle reminds me of the story of working in a mobile phone store in the past.
My job at the time was selling phone cases and stickers. I'm very picky about the installation of the protective film, and despite the tiny fluff that is invisible under the light, I still insist on taking it out, and the tiny air bubbles between the screen and the protective film are not allowed. If I, as a guest, get this quality, it will definitely be a death penalty! Ha ha! As the number of installations has increased, my skills have become more and more proficient. I have found that customers are returning, and when they get their mobile phones, they will praise me for posting so well, which gives me a lot of achievements. Feeling, this is the "why" mentioned by the author!
If I hold: "Anyway, I'm just here to make money, it's good to do my job." Maybe after a few months, I'll start to get tired of this job, and my work attitude and effectiveness will slowly decline, causing negative effects. snowball effect. (Although there were still enough Ockers to give up the job, I was somehow satisfied, albeit in stages.)
If your job often makes you feel powerless, it may be time to switch runways, you just haven't found your "why" yet, don't be discouraged.
It is undeniable that "making money" is important, but if you can find the "why in your life", money is the result. Why is Buffett so rich and yet to retire? Because he loves investment and loves it to the death, his goal is to create a sustainable business. Even if he and Munger leave one day, it will not cause Berkshire's collapse. With self-knowledge, Experience, insight and find the perfect investment target, and then achieve profitable results.
As another example, I want to talk about a topic that is often noisy on Matters, about the number of likes. Applying the author's formula, if the purpose of writing is to earn a lot of likes, you may start to be top-heavy, try to squeeze out articles every day, try your best to increase the number of works, but ignore the quality of the articles. Lose the original intention and cause the opposite effect. Take a good look at the original intention of self-writing, find the "why" and write, I believe that appreciation will follow. As the author puts it: "It's not what you do that attracts people, but why you do it."
Let us work together!
Why is a belief and how is the action we use to practice the belief, and what we do is the result of that action.
The above is the first book "Ask First, Why?" " The concept mentioned.
The second book , "Find Your Why" , revolves around the "how" to find your why. Frankly speaking, it didn't help me much, although the co-authors provided some methods, such as finding a friend who can help you explore yourself, please The friend comes to clarify your why. After reading the second book, I didn't feel that it was easier to find the "why". (Everything is just my opinion, it varies from person to person.)
The third book "Infinite Game" . In short, it's a story about how people who have "found why" use their infinite minds to create different outcomes.
If you haven't read "Ask First, Why?" ", "Infinite Game" would be a good book. If you've read the first book, you'll probably find the stories and concepts in Infinite Game to be quite repetitive. Maybe it's because I read these three books at about the same time, and I still have a clear understanding of the content of each book, so I can feel this way.
If you have limited time, I suggest that you can just read the first book.
If you...really...really...don't like reading, then take 20 minutes to hear how Simon Sinek explains the concept of the Golden Circle! Hope it can give you some inspiration.
May we all discover our own WHY as soon as possible and get the result of making a lot of money. 😄
Andrew Carnegie once said, "There must be a purpose in life, and making money is the worst purpose. There is no idolatry worse than the worship of wealth."
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
