The man behind Pi Network

When it comes to the Pi Network platform, you have to start with Nicolas Kokkalis (Nicholas) and SrartX , a non-profit startup support platform, a consortium with a valuation of over $19 billion and more than 700 startups.

Nicolas Kokkalis is a postdoc in computer science at Stanford University, where he works on social computing and is currently teaching a course on designing decentralized applications for blockchain. In his early Ph.D. he created a framework that simplifies programming on fault-tolerant distributed systems. This work also applies to blockchains today (long before Bitcoin and Ethereum). Dr. Kokkalis has expertise in designing viral social apps that have attracted over 20 million users with excellent engagement and retention rates, and won a Facebook Foundation Award in 2009. He was on the founding team of StartX, an accelerator for the nonprofit entrepreneur community and he is a Stanford affiliate where he served as CTO from 2010 to 2018. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and a master's degree in management science and engineering from Stanford University.

Start X was founded in 2010 with a $7 million grant from Stanford University. To date, Stanford University and the Stanford University Health Foundation have invested $200 million to ensure that StartX community members receive full funding.

What is StartX?
