Pittsburgh-born Jill Freedman was originally a sociological and anthropological researcher, but she has since made a strong mark in the history of street documentary photography.

Jill Freedman's works include heroism, civil servant life, everyday life in the circus, sex, violence, dirty and shameless humor in the city, etc. She hopes to tell the story of a city by documenting these fleeting moments . Most of her works have been permanently collected by the Smithsonian Art Museum, New York Public Book Museum and many other museums.

Jill Freedman travels the streets of the city all day, using her camera to record the bizarre world in her eyes, detailing the multi-faceted character of New York. Art critic AD Coleman once called her "a great and unknown documentary photographer".
