Bought a used Kindle

Before I buy second-hand, I want to see why the original owner would want to sell it.

Hey, contrary to me, I just want to buy a kindle because I don't want to use the iPad to read books anymore. I have been using my iPad to read books for a year, and I always read through WeChat. I like WeChat reading very much. WeChat reading is the only reason I keep WeChat. In the past, everyone used WeChat to communicate, but now most of them have shifted their turf. Most of the people around me and I use WhatsApp (work + schoolwork) and Instagram (entertainment + daily updates and records).

The reasons for not wanting to use the iPad as the main way to read books are:

(1) Heavy

I am using an iPad Air3. I like to stand and read when I'm full, and holding a book up all the time is an arm exercise, and I'm rarely someone who sits in a chair and reads with an iPad on the table. I also like to lie in bed before going to bed and read books, and I have also liked to read physical books in this way since I was a child. Lying in bed is the most relaxing time.

(2) Distraction

When I read on WeChat, I like to read the notes of other book friends. The book friends do not know each other and come from different backgrounds, but they are all reading the same book, so some of the feelings they write are quite exciting. In fact, not only reading on WeChat, but also reading comments on other social media (YouTube, FB, Instagram).

The unlimited card of WeChat reading is easy to obtain. As long as you have the unlimited card, you can roam in WeChat reading. WeChat reading will also record the reading time and award medals, which is indeed a sense of achievement. In addition, WeChat Reading also publishes an annual report, which I like very much.

I get distracted because I like reading other people's comments too much. Wechat reading can close comments, but I am reluctant to close it. In fact, if I read too many comments, it will make me confused. I will find that I don’t understand the meaning of the original text at all, which violates the original intention of reading. I don’t know if it is because I am easily distracted by the comments, or I am not attentive. .

Some people say that the iPad itself is also a lot of temptation, but my network is not all-you-can-eat, so I don't use the iPad to watch movies and videos, and I don't play games. My iPad is just a proper learning tool.

(3) Eye injury

My eyes hurt when I stare at the screen for a long time. Switching to a kindle ink screen can protect your eyes.

I was looking for readers intentionally or unintentionally. In addition to looking for a cheaper kindle/Mi Reader in shopee, I just read the reviews on youtube, but I have never made up my mind on which one I want to buy. I looked at the price, and it seemed that the iPad in my hand could still be used to read books.

Until one day I met this netizen who wanted to sell kindle on Xiaohongshu. His kindle is 10th generation, backlit, used for half a year, guaranteed to be in good condition, no scratches, a protective case and free shipping, and also attached the original purchase record, and finally sold it to me for RM290, the original price is RM370.

In fact, I don't know the second-hand market price of kindle. I feel that it is expensive, but I did not succeed in bargaining. I really wanted to use the kindle. According to the seller's description, the machine is in good condition, and it is indeed cheaper than the original price, so I made the deal. I read the comments of netizens on the Internet and said that the Kindle has a long life, and it is no problem to use it for 5 or 6 years.

But the strange thing is that I never thought of buying second-hand laptops and mobile phones. Maybe these are really close to use, so I don't want to use second-hand ones?

After the Kindle arrived, I registered an Amazon account on the Internet, and then logged into WeChat to read it.

Um? Didn't it mean that you don't need WeChat to read books if you use Kindle? I'm just curious what WeChat reading looks like on the Kindle. If you use Kindle to read Wechat, you must be connected to the Internet all the time, which consumes power and is inconvenient, so I still use the data cable to transfer the book, and then start reading.

I have to say, I seem to be returning to the tranquility of reading a book in the past. I'm currently watching "Love in the Time of Cholera" and I've watched 40% of it in three days.

I used the ink screen for the first time, although the response is a bit slow compared to the phone, but I like the texture of the ink screen.

Light and comfortable to hold.

Of course, I can't be distracted anymore, after all, kindle is useless except for reading.

I will continue to use WeChat to read books, to read English books and some difficult books.

Although I have read a lot of English literature, I am very stuck and easy to give up reading English books. I use the iPad to learn to read English books. I split the screen on the iPad, one side is the Chinese version, and the other is the English version. After reading a paragraph in the Chinese version, I read the English version. Saves the trouble of finding new words. Now I'm watching "Pride and Prejudice", I've watched it off and on for more than a year and haven't finished it yet, but it's more than half of it, hahaha, I stipulated that I read one chapter a day, and I didn't read it when I had time.

Looking at very jerky and esoteric books, I may also go back to reading on WeChat. Sometimes the comments of book friends can deepen my understanding of the original text and allow me to continue reading without being so confused.

It is very common to see people who say that people who read a lot will look very temperamental. I once thought superficially, I have read a lot of books (self-confessed), why haven't I heard someone praise me for having a temperament😂 Later, I found out that practicing the correct standing posture may make it easier to practice "temperament".

Reading has always been one's own business. In a cluttered environment, it is very valuable to be able to calm down and concentrate on one thing.

I like to experience the emotions that the book brings to me. When the author writes other perspectives that I haven't seen before, I feel very satisfied when I read it. I don't know where I have seen such a sentence, reading = massaging the mind.

Forget what books you have read. Is it useful to read so many books? I don't know where it came from, we don't need to remember what we eat each time, those foods have been turned into nutrients to support our body and daily life. The same is true of the books that I have read. It doesn’t matter if I don’t remember the content. The words that accompany me to spend a quiet time subtly broaden my horizons. If I don’t care about the hours and treat others more tolerantly, life will be better.
