My Bookshelf: Books the Library Can't Borrow
Recently, there has been another wave of removals from public libraries. A number of works by people with political backgrounds, journalists, and communication scholars talking about social events have been removed from the shelves. A total of 255 Chinese e-books have been removed from the shelves in the past three years ( source ), which has not yet been counted. The ones that never made it to the shelves.
The bookshelf at home seems to have suddenly become a treasure house. There are things that the library does not have. Take photos and record them.
"Philosophy of the Great Era", written by the Good Youth Poison Room, has been removed from the shelves in 2021. This book explores race, democracy, resistance, etc. from a philosophical perspective. The same series of "Good Youth Philosophy Readers" and "Little Daily Philosophy" is still in the library catalog. And their other book, "Take a Philosophy Book to the Street", I don't think it ever made it to the library shelves.
"Freedom in Twenty Shades" was written by Au Jialin, a veteran journalist. He was arrested earlier and currently has no freedom of entry and exit. He has at least six books, and the library catalog is complete.
"Black Sun" and "Half Eclipse" will be published in 2020 and 2021, written by Hong Kong's important writer Han Lizhu, who has always been a must-read author in schools. "The epidemic and politics have changed Hong Kong and the world. Many places have interrupted their daily routines and entered a state of "half eclipse". "She wrote about the troubled times of the bustling city in diary style. "Black Sun" won the first prize in the non-fiction category of the 2021 Taipei International Book Fair. These two books are her important works in recent years, and they are not in the collection of the Hong Kong Library. Her other literary works are on the shelves.
"Actors of the Times", "Anti-Revision Storm", "The Darker the Sky, the Brighter the Stars", all related to the movement, which the library does not have, are all well placed on my bookshelf. "Actors of the Times" was written by Li Lifeng, a Hong Kong communication scientist. He used to be an expert witness for the defense (the prosecution was the Department of Justice). As a scholar, there are many publication lists. Currently, there is only one co-authored book in the library library directory. "The Darker the Sky, the Brighter the Stars" was written by Tan Huiyun, a senior journalist and lecturer at the University's School of Journalism and Communication. Recently, another book of hers, "Writing Desire: Close-up News in Response to the Times," was removed from shelves. "Mottled Daily" was written by Deng Xiaohua, the founder of the Hong Kong Literature Museum, a writer who talks a lot about public affairs, and has at least six personal works. Recently, her literary works have been removed from the shelves, and only a few radio show recordings in which she participated are left on the shelves. .
Zunzi, a Hong Kong cartoonist. Since 1983, he has drawn works satirizing current affairs in mainstream Hong Kong newspapers. His works are mostly seen in "Ming Pao", "Apple Daily" and "Next Magazine". People know that the latter two no longer exist. As for "Ming Pao" ", has ceased publication immediately on the 14th of this month, and the library immediately removed his works. The picture shows the last issue of "Ming Pao".
Are there any books on your bookshelves that cannot be borrowed from the library?
