Designed to reward developers

Archway ensures that dApp developers receive their fair share of rewards and incentives by placing network-level rewards directly into the protocol itself.

DApps earn a portion of transaction fees and inflation rewards in exchange for their contributions to the network, similar to how validators are rewarded in a typical PoS chain.

This shared revenue model enables dApps to earn recurring rewards, gain a true stake in the underlying protocol, and participate in the benefits of community success.

How dApp rewards work

Archway unlocks three potential reward sources for dApps:

Gas fee refund

Unlike existing smart contract platforms, Archway does not consume gas fees or allocate them entirely to validators or miners. Instead, Archway distributes the gas fees collected between dApp developers and validators.

At network launch, gas fees will be split equally, 50% to dApp developers and 50% to validators. These are configurable parameters that can be adjusted over time through network governance.

Inflation Reward Share

Archway shares a portion of the total network inflation reward directly with dApps. At genesis, 25% will be allocated to dApp developers and 75% to validators. For example, if the total annual inflation rate of the network is 8%, then 2% will go to dApps and 6% will go to validators. Again, these distribution values are configurable parameters that can be adjusted by the Archway community through network governance.

The dApp reward pool (2% in the previous example) is then prorated based on the relative gas fees each dApp generates during a given period.

Note: Each dApp has a maximum inflation reward cap to mitigate potential Sybil attacks and ensure that spam transactions or contracts cannot be profitable.

Smart Contract Premium

With Archway, dApps can define custom fees for interacting with their smart contracts. These fees give developers a flexible option to pay for additional costs such as distributed storage, access to off-chain processing, external data sources, or other advanced features such as auditing and insurance contracts.

Contract premiums also provide the possibility to monetize individual contracts that can be integrated across multiple dApps and earn multiple fees from any user base or service they interact with.

To simplify the user experience, smart contract fees are embedded directly into network fees , so end users pay only a single combined fee when signing transactions.

The ultimate toolkit for creating sustainable, high-performance dApps

The network provides a complete CosmWasm implementation, a Web3-compatible API, and bridges to other networks. CosmWasm currently supports compiling from Rust, but in the future you can also write Wasm smart contracts using TypeScript, Golang, etc.

Archway is powered by Tendermint Consensus for high performance and security while still maintaining a low carbon footprint. With Tendermint's fast determinism and Archway's unique implementation of gas-free transactions, it's possible to create a truly seamless experience for mainstream users.
